Title: Spartan Art
Post by: Spartan on July 27, 2015, 06:41:54 PM
Hey people! This is first topic for the new section!
Im a creature designer and landscaper beginner.
You can see some of my work in 2D and 3D.
I was working in a videogame that I wanted to be Turok spiritual successor based in a universe I build based in Skull Island, The New Dinosaurs and other ones. Basically I made a continent island full with dinosaur descendents and more speculative animals. I was working in this project since my first year in the highschool: 11 years ago. I didnt have a name for the project so I called Project Eden, due my surname.

Yeah that is good stuff there! Really like the drawings since I love comics I like that art very much there. Cool idea to put them into pictures with environments to. I think if people on forum work together you all could really create something special. Whether it be a spiritual successor or a strate up Turok fan made game it will be pretty awesome. Hell you guys could make both lol. Good stuff you got there nice scenes on the levels also :)

Thanks people! About Spiritual Successor...I was trying to make a Turok Game when I started in 3D World, 4 years ago, but I cant due license names I cant. So, why not the speculative universe that I created to make something similar to my favourite game along with Doom and Zoo Tycoon? Also the gameplay have big maps like Far Cry 1, Crysis 1 and Halo, role elements like Borderlands, exploration like Uncharted and combat melee like Darksiders. Also many kinds of creatures, enemies and weapons. I had a team, that only remains 3 girls that worked with me. They are now working in another company but they gave me ideas to put in the game and some still work in it. One of them is specialised in creatures like me, she loves Oblivion Flesh Eaters of Turok. She helped me to design this creature as a crocodile with a raptor and freddy kruger. Also science!: Short teeth and large claws to open and crush the shellfish of the coast. And its not a dinosaur! A very far related cousin of dinosaur antecesors.

I dont think anyone here owns a playstation console except for me and you, so i dont think anyone here knows what darksiders is and especially not what uncharted is. (owning a ps3 just for turok 2008 does not count)

Well Darksiders was also for PC and Xbox 360. The Uncharted element is the exploration

Hey people sorry for the bad typo. When I wrote college, I mean Highschool.
And yeo Dinomite, I have a good feeling here with veterans like me!
Also...new content of the game!
Dendrosaurus, an arboreal ornithopod very shy and peacefull that lives in the canopies of the trees and sometimes in meadows near the frontier of forests. Also this dinosaur have a symbiosis with a type of kelp that lives in the ponds, rivers and swamps of the continent.

Do you draw them on paper and scan them onto the computer afterwards or do you use a drawing tablet?

Hey People! How are you? These days I was in holidays with  my family. I have many things planned for Eden project and another dinosaur game I was collab.
Another dinosaur from Eden.
Tarasque (Gondwanadraco ferox)
Tarasque is a 11m long carnivorous carnosaur related with neovenatorids that evolved into a new family: Gondwanadracos. Tarasque and Gwangi are the only living members. The origins of the Neovenatorids from Mu are probably from a megaraptoran like Australovenator or Orkoraptor. Tarasque is one of many theropod carnivores in Mu that lives in the forests and jungles from the continent in medium groups formed by an alpha pair. This predatroy dinosaur have a big success hunting big preys like sauropods like Razorneck or stegosaurs like Wuahanochuck. Also this dinosaur hunt along with Gwangi species, even they share the prey. In 2004 after a big hunt a pair of Gwangi and a family of Tarasques were sharing the hunted sauropod and the chicks of both species were playing together after eating the dead sauropod.
@Dinomite: And yes my friend!

oKay people, I was currently making a realistic rainforest using foliage brush with at least more tahn 50 plants. Imagine Turok Evolution first chapter and sixth chapter with that foliage! Probably you will see an homage to Evolution! Also Im a little busy working in creatures for a movie.
Here is a creature I made in homage to my childhood heroes along with Max Rockatansky and Clint Eastwood.
Gohira (Gohiramimus neferis)
Gohira is a medium size ornithopod that lives in pairs in the forest and volcanic areas of the continent, specially in the eastern Perses Mountains. These dinosaurs probably evolved from basal ornithopods from Gondwana, probably Gasparinisaurus. And its unique its arboreal cousin: Dendro, that this dinosaur have large scute like crocodiles or stegosaurs, or to the long extinct Scutellosaurus. Due its skittish nature, this animal was very difficult to study. In the beginning any zoologist nobody believe this creature existed due the name: Gohira. Gohira in Mu mythology, its a gian marine dragon that lived in the interior sea until he fought a gargoyle centuries ago. Until a researcher Stanford Callahan, went with a group of natives to find the true Gohira. And surprisly he found a medium size dinosaur, that only resembles to Gohira in the dorsal scutes and the shape.

Do you mean the forest or the dinosaur? The forest is based in some forest like Tasmania and New Zealand. The movie creatures are from a movie created by a group of friends. And the dinosaur...a homage to a famous japanese monster.

Yeah man this is really nice work! You are an artist for sure, don't forget to add smaller creatures like lizards and stuff like that. My favorite dino is a Dimetrodon you should make your version of something like him. I would like to see that.

@DoomGuy: Of course I have plans for smaller creature to fill niches in the continent. And yes Im planning a creature that resembles to Dimetrodon.  But I wasnt very happy with the drawing. I have a in-process model to make it. Also find a good new name for the genera. And sorry to say, but dimetrodon is not related with dinosaurs. In fact dimetrodon is more related with us than dinosaurs. Currently Im working on a small flightless bird from the deserts.

Well people, some news...Im currently helping one pupil to complete an animated 2D serie, that I will work as creature designer and the voice of a character that its based in me. I can said its mix of Rick Sanchez with Ian Malcolm.
More news about drawings...
Here is a sneak peek from a very advanced drawing.
And a blast from the past. I made this Godzilla 3D model 3 years ago imaging how Godzilla would look like in the 2014 movie.
For inspirationg I used the Heisei Godzilla, one of my favourites japanese Godzillas and the Stan Winston model for the cancelled 1994 american movie Godzilla vs Gryphon.

Post by: Spartan on September 24, 2015, 04:14:03 PM
@Dinomite: Yep dude, everybody loves that big bastard! The idea of Rick was, that everbody call me and my pupil like Rick and Morty, despite my pupil, she is more crazy and not shy and dumb like Morty. Also the Rick part was said by my friends who said im the scientist of the group and im little crazy like him and a vodka lover. I dont know, currently Im finding a good voice tone for the character. if the serie have a good reception probably we will translate to english. She is currently working in the pilot and finding a good voice tone for her character.
About Gojira, thanks dude! Many people said me about my Gojira compared to 2014. But you know I like things from 2014 version like it feels very real. The dermal spines, skin and tail resembles to a crocodile. Also the combat style that its a mix of a komodo dragon and a grizzly bear. The atomic breath, I have a better idea for the atomic breath, probably in a remake of this models you will see Gojira spitting the atomic breath.

Really good. Its pretty crazy I have been quite obsessed with Godzilla lately to lol. I have been watching the animated series every night for the past 2 months for a flashback. I am a huge fan of Zilla its safe to say that. I approve of this Godzilla, I could go for seeing him in a Godzilla game I like the design. You are really good at this stuff its a gift and talent. Gojira Gojira

Congrats on working on that series to dude Ian Malcolm was a cool character to, it seems interesting :)

Okay people lets talk about bad news and good news.
Bad news.
The drawing sneak peek I showed had an accident that I prefferd forget it. Maybe one day I will remake it. But now I prefferd to another ones. Probably the Dimetrodon creature that DoomGuy said me.

Good news.
Im currently working faster in UE4 and ZBrush in new models. Im finishing the Ornithopod and another creature.
Here is a creature I made long time ago with a minigame to discover.

Zeke
(http://i273.photobucket.com/albums/jj205/Spartanraptor/ARK/Zeke_zpsa3sgwnt4.jpg)
Zeke (Baptoavis velocis) is a marine bird that resembles to the long extinct Hesperornis from the Cretaceous, but Zeke evolved from a linage related with Patagopteryx that took the sea in two linages: Toothless and toothed birds. Zeke is from the tooth linage specialized in crustaceans and live in tropical parts, while the toothless are more adapted to temperate and cold waters. Zeke is usually the basic prey of many marine predators like Leviathan, sharks, crocodiles and predatory amphibian dinosaurs.
Due its low intelligence and affection to humans, Zeke was more used as food resource of low cost. In 2004-2007 war in Mu, many soldiers witness many Zeke exploding to boats. One specimen was found attached with a very rudimentary explosive artifact. Its unknow who used the birds as living bomb. This method was used in 2005 in the Badlands by a group of crazies named as the Kamikaffir. Instead Zeke, they used Gorasian Dodos.

So intact with the concept man a story and or meaning for every detail I like it man. Yeah I would love to see a Dimetrodon from you :) But this bird is pretty nifty he looks like he/she is about 25 feet long maybe longer? Anyway lol pretty funny how they were used as bombs in your concept. Dude your art skill is way passed average at least I think so.

Thanks dudes!
I tried to do a great niche for the creature and to have a good backstory, I dont want only simply animals to fill the ecosystem. I want this will be a gear to an ecosystem, and every gear is important.
Nope sorry man, this bird is only 2m long.

I think nobody find the discovery message of the bird in the info.

Title: Re: Roland Art

Thanks guys! About a comic...I thought it years ago in a Graphic Novel in Mu named Lion of Sparta, but I cancelled for many reasons: failed loved, health issue and mostly because when I was developing I notice in my ill hearth that I lost the way in Mu, so 4 years ago I decided to restart all with Ark of Eden, that was much close to my first work in Mu in 2003-2004 idea. I can say Turok Evolution was a heavy influence of the story.

Yeah let us see the Ceratopsian that's another one of my favorite dinosaurs. They are really well balanced in defense against threatening predators. In fact they are very close to being a predator themselves I think :)

Also about the journal page...yesterday I had some problems with my PC, but now its fine. I will work this weekend in it.

Hey people! Merry Christmas-Hannuka-Winter Solstice-Pagan Fest to Turok Forums! I was too busy resolving issues in my life, I think I resolved most of them. I dont have yet finished the journal entry. The dinosaur is finished, but no the text and hidden messages. The good thing is Im working in a new creature based in one kaiju that fought a popular western monster in the 60s. Also, im a little sad because days ago we lost a great legend in the Heavy Metal: Lemmy Kilmister from Motorhead. One of my favourite band along with Pink Floyd, Rolling Stones, Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath, Megadeth, Dethklok and Judas Priests. Now guys Im going to listen Motorhead while I will drink Bourbon. Have a nice new year!

Wonderful just wonderful the book of Roland hey wasn't there a guy in Jurassic Park 2 named Roland? Heheh Joking but really these are super you got the skill here. Keep it up! Loving Moloch and that is a scary name for him to.

This is really good I like the spikes on the body of Ngou Bou good detail because that is very defensive instead of offense which is how you explain its character. This thing could kill you just by slamming its body. Question is one of his horns broken from battle?
Title: Re: Roland Art
Post by: Spartan on January 11, 2016, 10:09:21 AM
Thanks everyone! I hope you will like this new format, because I will use this for next drawings! But not only dinosaurs and local fauna. The journal have many pages related with factions, weapons, locations and beigns from other realities.
@Adon: Yes, my first name is like the hunter from Jurassic Park 2, most people said me that xD.
@Duke64: The funny thing about ceratopsians (Family of Triceratops, Styracosaurus) have many theories about the use of horns. One said if it was defensive, the design would standarized like theropod dinosaurs. With this, the horns and frill were used to attract females. But I think was a mix of defensive and offensive. About the broken horn, probably was broken in a battle or by an accident. The thing is animals are like us, we are different. Probably one ngoubou have the second nasal horn bigger than the first, or have smaller horns in the frill.

Dude these need to be models for a game :)) Yes there is a ton of dino games based on survival now but you can make it a different game not survival. Plus you have the Turok edge so that will give it a boost in being different. But the dinosaurs here need to expand off paper there so good all of them.
Title: Re: Roland Art
Post by: Spartan on January 12, 2016, 02:16:45 PM
Thanks Max! Yes im currently modelling some of these creatures and for a game. The game was my homage to Turok, more like the first halo and far cry 1. Large levels with multiple ways to complete it, cool weapons, many enemy factions and majestic landscapes.
And nobody decipher my messages!

I like the new drawing it looks great and fits in with the rest of your art to. They all kind of come together in someway rather then being mixed up and all over the place. They seem to be from the same time period and have similar markings/spikes.

Post by: Jay Doomed on January 15, 2016, 01:54:11 PM
Ahh darn I must of missed the other drawing but this one is great dude still going to say it. This would be cool as a game and seeing them as models.. but overall just seeing them like this is very nice. If it were a physical book with all pages like this and creatures with a small story in the background it would sell as a book to :)

Hey guys, sorry for the broken link of Moloch. I removed due Im retouching the text. But it will be back.
Talking about the place set for animals and the story, Im searching a good theme song to fit in the world of these creatures. Imagine this: Its a world upside down, weird, something is not right, its non sense world.
One friend send me this, that could fit it very well.

Stay tune!

Thank you guys! I really appreciate this community and you! Also here is the aquatic reptile. I imagined this guy years ago as a enemy in Turok.
Basically Turok Leaper and Freddy Krueger had a baby.
Looks like a dinosaur, but its not a dinosaur, its a far cousin of dinosaur and much primitive. Mergar (Aquainterfector mandocaris) is a medium size hunter that lives in the swamps, estuaries and mangroves of the interior sea. The large claws and short teeth allows to open and crush the crustaceans of his habitat, but they would use it to defend himself or capture fishes or other preys. Another hunt attack is similar to the long related cousin the eusuchian crocodiles. Aquabumser, stalks under water like a shark and emerge like a vicious crocodile with sharp claws. Then he drowns the victim. The natives call him as the Dark Drowner. His natural predators are Leviathans, big amphibian dinosaurs, crocodiles and probably the cryptid Typhoon.
This animal was under the radar of the Challenger Group to investigate this animal, due 4 animals were found dead with large burned wounds with large amount of uranium, sulfur and radioactive materials.

@Dinomite: Komodo Dragon (Varanus genera lived in miocene (after dinosaurs) is very recent but its family (Varanidae) lived in cretaceous. Armadillos (Xenarths(This family are armadillos, anteaters and sloths)) lived after dinosaurs.

Hey people! How a long time I didnt post anything. I had to deal with my life and job. But I have some news for you:
- Im thinking to change the template to show my creatures. Instead a journal I will make dossier taken from a company or a society. Why the change? The journal and the cryptograms have a work and I feel nobody (not from here) from other places I post my work dont collab. So I will change it to a field dossier.
- I have some creatures that I decided to change. Dont worry Duke your turtle is still intact :P
- The creature I teased months ago its finished but I will use another template to show it. Its a fish you want to guess it.

Also not everything are bad news...Im currently working for a movie that will be release in 2 years. In autumn I will post more pics, new layout and stuff related with my spec project.

Use a wordpress site it has free storage for images and you can change the plan and pay for more space. Or you could just make multiple free wordpresses to store pics. Plus its a blog you could even make the blog based on your project.. Just my opinion.

Turok Forum Members: How good?!
Me: Good? NO! They are terrible!

Yep some were very terrible. Remember some of you I posted years ago I was working with 2 friends in an adult animated series named Manolo and Javi in the Epic Quest for Dignity. A story about a 30 year old man with a hyena in the quest for the dignity. It now hold indefinitely, why? 2 friends that created with me have now some problems between them. One didnt make much and the other is struggling personal problems. I was the only one caring fot eh project, so I decided to move to other projects. One is a script in homage to Edward Wright movies like Cornetto Trilogy with my friends. But needs to mature more.
In other things recently I came back to my videogame idea I posted you when I joined the forums. I was working on the creatures but I didnt have any clear idea how to show it, you remember the journal like similar to ark dossiers and gravity falls journal. I worked in some stuff that people didnt decipher and I wasnt happy at all. So I didnt know how to present the creatures of this world. So I have a special help with a close friend that helped me how to shape this world. The world is set in the 70s-90s. I love ths sci fi look of that time. So the game is set in that mentioned time. About the creatures I posted here these years, yeah they will have a remake in this new format to show you.

Yeah Duke I dont forget the turtle I promised you, I will make it, but I hope you will like this guy that is a mix of a crocodile and a marine turtle.
The gameplay...this is a love letter to old school fps singleplayer like Turok, Wolfenstein and Doom. But at the same time with modern touchs like perk system and small rpg like the newest Doom and Wolfenstein. Like this will have some plattaform parts and a lot of exploration. Some levels will have small open world like the first far cry, crysis 1 and halo 1. A lot of fauna in its respective biomes and many enemies factions with many types of enemies.
About the story is to discover the secrets of an ancient continent island full of ancient lifeforms that evolved in new ways. Noah, as you seen in the dossiers its a secret zoological agency that study and track down ancient lifeforms that are far beyond for us. There are more factions.
Many people asked me why not make a survival game, they are very popular right now...Im tired of the survival games, specially with dinosaurs, there are too many like Ark, Isle, etc...I play both but this is my creation and I want to be a solid experience that you can enjoy it again like the mentioned games. I dont know if I will make a multiplayer mode. I hated those years in the PS360 days when every game had a multiplayer mode inserted without any reason. Probaby I will change my mind to make an arena multiplayer like quake or unreal. But I saw more a coop style like Borderlands.
Some of the new pics of the game in UE4.
