Anything Else / What's Your Favourite Dinosaur?
« on: April 08, 2017, 09:54:39 AM »
Don't pretend you don't have one!

My favourite is the stegosaurus.  I like that there's still a lot unknown about its way of life.  I love that it has ostensibly useless things on its back and I love that its tail is potentially deadlier than its head.

They're kind of like cows from a long time ago.  I like cows.

So, what's your favourite and why?

PS:  Honourary mention goes to the pterodactyl.  I know its not a dinosaur but they're very cool. :)

Looking good dude.  I think this is the kind of thing the Turok community could really benefit from.  Thank you for all your positive work. :)

its expensive, i pefer extract the music from the game...  each of us who have buy the remaster or get the original game can have access to the musics without buy again.

"...This is from my private collection. Some of this may have seen the light of day, but never the whole CD. Written in 1997, this CD was recorded in the studio in my house when I was living in Austin, TX. It is laid out in the form of a "Concept Album", which I really enjoy (XTC's "Skylarking" and the first Enigma albums were my favorites at the time). This is a CD version of the game music, using the original equipment that I had back in '97."

That's a quote from Darren's Facebook page.  You can rip the music if you like (as many already have) but this is the original compositions in their original state as envisaged by the musician before it was crushed to fit on a game cartridge.  I don't think $9 for someones original vision of their music is too much to ask.

Just a bit of advice from an old fart:  Try to be a little more positive about things.  As Turok fans we're in a good place right now.  Let's keep it that way. :)

Not for sale in the UK... :(

Ahh that sucks :/ someone needs send you it then xD

Insta Buy

I'm hoping he ends up putting it out on Bandcamp.  To be honest, I wish more people would do that rather than bloody DRM-tastic iTunes and unnecessarily region locked online Amazon!

EDIT:  I just mailed Darren to ask him if he'd consider Bandcamp.  Nothing ventured, nothing gained. :)

Turok 2 Seeds of Evil / Re: Turok 2 EX Turok 2 remaster 2017

They've put out at least 2 beta patches on Steam.  One of them is presumably the one you're talking about.  Since launch, the game has become more stable and is more optimised than it was.  It's getting there.  Things take time.

It is true, however, that the coders have been fairly quiet.  Edward was initially quite verbose on Steam but even he's gone to ground.  Being a positive chappy, I'm taking this as a good sign that they're working hard. :)

Other Games / Re: Lode Runner
« on: April 07, 2017, 12:16:01 PM »
Well spotted!  I've given it my thumbs up.  I love the Lode Runner games (especially the western ones close to Douglas E Smith's original).  This one seems to straddle between the western and eastern takes on the title.

I've been playing Lode Runner since back in the Vic 20 days (yep, I'm that old!) and I still play it in some form or other on a regular basis.  Nice to see another version to sink my teeth into.

Thanks for sharing. :)

Just a quick nosy to see how your map's going? It really does look pretty nice. :)

I've PM'd you regarding a wee play tonight if you're up for it. :)

It's impressive that it's been dl'd so many times.  Congratulations!  Remember, if people aren't giving you feedback, that's usually a good sign.  Folk are much quicker to complain than to congratulate - just look at the 'feedback' that the remaster multiplayer has been getting...  So, you must be doing something right. ;)
