Turok General Discussion / Lost Land Map Project
« on: January 26, 2018, 04:34:34 PM »
Hello everyone, kind of a side project that I've been working on ever since the new year started.

Been working on a somewhat canonical map of the lost land, my iteration is kind of based on the model of a flat earth.  My first inspiration to undergo this was an image of a flat earth I found on Bing:

Very wild, but the mythology it uses was too normal and bland for me, so I raised it up a notch and made a flat earth version of the Acclaim Turok universe:

I might add game boy locations later on, but i'm very satisfied with what's shown here, enjoy :)

The idea of this map started when I saw Harbor-9 remaster with Behemoth a few months ago, and that it looked dismal compared to the Singleplayer map it was based off of.

Then later Vis was telling me of the good old days of t2mp, with the acrobatic speed, the glitches, generally how the maps felt.

I decided that enough was enough, it was time to bring the multiplayer map everyone wished for back then.

Introducing: Harbor-10

You guessed right. I basically ported the final segment of Port of Adia and made it into a multiplayer map!
Because of the sheer size of the map, i've included 6 teleports and 2 3 jumpads to help you get around easier. Another thing i did was increase the player speed and jump to resemble that of the old t2mp.

This map is not finished, and I'll be updating it later on, but it's playable for rok matches and raptorfest.

Harbor 10 Final (map only): http://www.mediafire.com/file/2iyd777xst8d47z/harbor10maponly.kpf

How to install: Go into your "Turok 2 - Seeds of Evil" folder and create a new folder named "mods". Place the .kpf in "mods" and you should be ready to go!

Turok Dinosaur Hunter Modding/Mapping / MonsterReskin
« on: August 16, 2017, 04:48:13 PM »

Just posting a forum link of MonsterReskin, a new project that focuses on the retexturing Turok 1 monsters. If you want to help out PM in forums discord, Steam, or in this thread.

Glad to be back in forums, took a little hiatus, but now I'm back and mapping again. Expect to see a post about my new upcoming map soon, too.

Making a series to post here so people can know how to use the editor. If anyone has questions I can answer in this thread.

So a friend of mine made this neat model that I could use, but this is my first time importing anything.

Not totally sure what is going on, but whenever I type "convertobj TotemPole_MDL.obj" it gives me the error:

Code: [Select]
kexParser::Open: TotemPole_MDL.objTotemPole_MDL.mtl not found
TotemPole_MDL.mtl not found

They're both in the "Turok: Dinosaur Hunter" folder, and of course I get an empty .bin for my troubles.

My friend doesn't Turok mod, and i have no modelling exp, so I'm clueless as how to correct the contents.

.obj conents:

.mtl contents:

If it helps, "template.png" is the name of the texture, I can't make heads or tails on what to do next.

Edit: DoomMarine23 helped me import the model I had trouble with, this thread would best be used as a tutorial thread of sorts.

Making a little separate section for research into some of the original textures of Turok.

I initially started re-texturing with in house textures I made:

Some head Carvings:

But I was interested to see if this was based on carvings source material and not independent, and it actually is (with minor changes).

Result mixing the two.

I'll be sure to update this post, and the textures I make from these are free to use for anyone's projects if they'd like, please give credit though.

If ya'll find any similar or matching sources pictures, please do tell :D

Edit: Changed crediting status
