Okay so I am thinking I can't be the only one here that likes Doom games. I have been a big fan of Doom for awhile now, and it is one of the best games ever. I am thinking here we can discuss anything and everything about all the Doom games here. There are plenty of user made contents to go around for a lifetime. If you know of any good ones please post them and we all can check them out! I was thinking Turok fans might also like DOOM.

Post screenshots, news, contents, thoughts, videos or anything about DOOM here.

Also, as we know it DOOM 4 is coming so we can discuss thoughts on that also if you wish.

This saga along with Turok and Zoo Tycoon are my favourites! I still remember the day I bought Doom 3, 11 years ago! And then in christmas 2011 play it again...what a day! WHAT A LOVELY DAY! Also Im waiting the new one. Looks a very good update to our days. Specially the monsters. I love how some models are based in my favourite doom 3 monsters like Hell Knight. I can say I was 2 years ago in support development of Doom, when I was in Zenimax. I hope I can show you soon the models I made and more to see my models in the game.

Most people probably think I am weird for this but I actually played Turok before I knew about Doom. But when I found Doom I was shocked I think Doom can go in my top 5 games easily.

I can say I was 2 years ago in support development of Doom when I was in Zenimax. I hope I can show you soon the models I made and more to see my models in the game.

You worked on some of the Doom models? If so dude I must say that is pretty awesome!

Cool thread I like me some Doom, I think Doom 2 and 64 would be my favorites but I like them all 3 is good to.

I have a few things I could post here though.

Here I am playing some Doom 3 BFG mp this was awhile ago though. I actually have a more recent one but I never got around to uploading heh maybe I will.

Yeah I am a bit concerned with Doom 4 but it seems to be close to the new Shadow Warrior/Wolfenstein which I loved. I just hope its not so linear or repetitive.

The snap-map thing is concerning me to. I don't want to build maps only using there set pieces just putting it on the wall. Sure this might sound cool to some but to me its a noob way of building a map. What happens to sitting down and actually learning the process rather then click drag paste. But all in all I am super excited for it. I mean its Doom either way :)

Yeah its not a game to be taken lightly I hope the developers realize that. This is a game where if they seriously screw up there rep is going down in the garbage. I am hopeful that it is in the right place, but modern will be modern classic is the best imo.

This snap map is one of my main concerns because level editing should not be drag, drop, paste, and copy. From what I am hearing about it I am not sure if I will even be interested in that thing. Also, I know where your coming from trust me there are quite a few people already somewhat disgusted in what they are seeing and even I am heavily concerned but as a huge Doom fan all I can do atm is be hopeful :)

The screenshots for the new game look nice a bit of horror. My brothers used to pull my Mario 64 cartridge out and say its Doom time. I wish they just played it on there pc but no they just had to play Doom on the 64 also.

It was on and off it didn't matter trust me I tried to fight over it but they would always win but I at least hit one of them each time hehe. We had some battles over who's turn it was always but it was normal they never really hurt me. Just kind of moved me to the side lol.

I was also worried about the way the chainsaw is. It seems to be rather scripted with its kills. Like when you go for a kill with it gameplay pauses as the chainsaw cuts. I hope it is more free willing then that. I would rather slice them all up in s tead of cutting/pausing between kills like a cinematic experience.

That level right here looks interesting to me I like the scene of it.

This remix of the Dark Halls track is pretty awesome. I added it with a montage video I had :)

I think the chainsaw instant kill are for some kind enemies like Imps or undead marines. I dont know how gameplay is. You wont believe me, but I didnt see the gameplay until this year, but I saw concept art for weapons, monsters and scenarios.

Yeah I was liking that scene to Duke64 it looks like a a good area nice and dark.

Also, cool video man looks you you had a field day with them:3 That remix made by Andrew Hulshult was good I liked his remix soundtrack, it seemed to be on point.

@Rok yeah I think the chainsaw is only like this in a "finish him" type of move I think you control when it does that which is still freedom :) But who knows exactly.

I do like the looks of some of the shots for sure particullary that one. But i'm not sure about the weapon as much. Well it is very sci fi though and is cool but I don't know if its perfect for Doom.

Yeah I can agree with that somewhat, it does appear to be a bit spacial. I think the best Doom weapons were those from Doom 64 but even then 2 of the weapons are very sci-fi so maybe they were trying to go for that but its not the same :s

This may have been posted somewhere already but what the heck, ladies and gents check out Turok Doom :) I think it needs to be upgraded because the author doesn't seem to have a maps for an episode and only has it for the survival mode against a ton of raptors. There could be newer dinosaurs imo. But still its pretty bad ass for me since I love Turok and Doom.

You made me want to go at Doom 64 again :) I really liked this game for its atmosphere and how it was not a carbon copy of Doom 1 or 2 was nice. It was much darker imo and the soundtrack was nice to!

This is Doom 64 EX though :) It runs suerb and has a level editor to.

Yeah Doom64 is really fun and everything about it is good. I really like how they didn't just port Doom 2 over and call it Doom 64, instead they made a hole new game pretty much and that's whats really special about it. The soundtrack is among some of the darkest tracks I have heard in fact the sound track is more like horror ambience then music besides the intro of course :)



Doom was the first game I play on PC, that started me on gaming. so yea! Getting it on day 1. :P
Nice! I am getting it day one also regardless of the concerns. I just have to Doom was my first pc gaming experience also.

These are good models I think so to!

I very like Doom. But the best for me is Doom 64 TC and last my discover - Brutal DOOM :) Love it.
I liked Doom 64 the most, I actually still like it better then Brutal Doom hehe. But Brutal Doom is a fun version also with all that blood and new animations its pretty unique. There's a reason its one of the highest rated mods all around.

I actually made a map in dedications to DOOM on Mapster32 about a year ago. I made the map of an all new idea from scratch just dedicated to Doom. Looks really nice though and detailed pretty, cool that you have Turok levels and Doom levels made for Duke 3D. Interesting to mix it up like that, that level looks huge about how long does it take to make one like this for you?

Whoa you know level 1 of the original Duke 3d episode is only about 2k walls? Your map here is nearly 15k that's like 7 times larger then the first map of Duke 3D. I gave it a try and I am amazed actually, looks like you captured concepts from Doom 1, 2, and 3. This is a really good map surely not the normal I love how you made the scenes change up but with a flow and as well as re creating some of the original doom areas. Like the areas did not change randomly it all fit pretty damn well. Nice space ship you made and hahah of course can't forget the toilets. Something that really stuck out is that you used new Duke quotes from other duke games the start of this level Duke  says "I better not need a flashlight up in this bitch" hahah new reference to Doom 3. I am not just being nice this map is seriously one of the best and probably the best Doom tribute I have seen. Great details, shading, and layout.

Yeah I played this before man it is a great map tribute to Doom easily one of the best. You should do a Max Payne tribute :P

You know I do like Halo(the older ones) but this is totally wrong imo

The original Doom marine would kick Master chief's ass just my opinion :)

Kind of makes me wish I pre-ordered Wolfenstein, I knew it was going to make me feel some regret but I am okay with waiting. Good thing there is excitement to hold me off :)

The modern versions of classics I am okay with them, most people seem to want what they started as. But I think the fact is, that its safe to say we were lucky to have those types of classics in that time it can't really be duplicated perfectly yet even know they try xD. Always nice to see our favorite games from the past still trying I just hope they attempt to reach to its roots as much as possible. I think it looks pretty fast paced and nice looking levels. I think Shadow Warrior 13 really caught a lot of fps developers attentions.

Yeah its not the actual Cacodemon its just based on it as you can see now ;) But look they pretty much straight up stole the look from him. To me it actually makes the Cacodemon less original then everyone thinks :)

I wonder who would expose screenshots I thought they weren't allowed to share? This is the mp I'm guessing choosing weapon loadouts. Hmm the shotgun is nice I guess its the one from the reveal.

The other weapons remind me of a game I played called Toxikk. The weapons are cool but I don't know about for Doom though maybe not quite the right fit who knows.

For Turok testing well the cats out of the bag now lol its okay for you guys to know now though but I wished to tell everyone myself though :P

I signed an NDA and I just can't show or say any of the sensitive info. All I can say is what was already said publicly by Night Dive themselves.

DOOM alpha is pretty decent though its a bit on the slower side but its not to bad I got some joy out of it but I think its missing a little bit of Doom soul. I will give a complete review of its mp real soon :)

You worked on some of the models for this now also? Yeah the pistol actually looks okay a bit futuristic but not bad at all. The scenes look very atmospheric especially this one sticks out to me. Looks scary

Also I played Romeros level that is just nice of him. Would be super if David Deinstbier came and made a new level for Turok since its getting an editor ;) Just throwing that out there.

I saw these to and was blown away that they still have some unseen stuff. Brutal Doom 64 is going to be bad ass ftw.

Plus I beat Romeros level its a nice thing to see him doing. Yeah if David would make a Turok map I would trip out and officially lose conscience xD. Wonder what's up with all this Doom hype not only for the new game but for the old game to Greg Punchatz awesome dude thanks for sharing that!

You really doubt it pal?! From what I see many things changed in models not only some monsters, also weapons like shotgun and plasma rifle.

Yeah I am a bit concerned with Doom 4 but it seems to be close to the new Shadow Warrior/Wolfenstein which I loved. I just hope its not so linear or repetitive.

The snap-map thing is concerning me to. I don't want to build maps only using there set pieces just putting it on the wall. Sure this might sound cool to some but to me its a noob way of building a map. What happens to sitting down and actually learning the process rather then click drag paste. But all in all I am super excited for it. I mean its Doom either way :)

I agree, I've just started fucking with doom builder 2 and its a great tool, the DOOM 4 snap maps seem very boring and repetitive, Very weak in terms of creativity. I don't have high hopes for the game in that respect, Its not like the first 3 doom games where content is still being created to this day, You wont see the same with this new doom game, We'll all just go back to the oldschool. Im calling it.

I also agree that this 'snapmap' sounds ..how should I say it...phony or weak. I'm sure I will make a map or two but its not something I see myself loving or getting deep into. I look forward to running through the sp and some mp though yeah it wont replace or top the classic that's not a good thing to think.

I received the Doom Beta invite on the PS4 last time, But I could not log in that day. Then the next day I get a "Ooops" from them about the code.
I had to go out (family trip) so I missed out on it.  >:(
So this time 31/3 or for me is 1/04 (April fools day) here in Japan, hope to get a taste of some "DOOM baby DOOM" before I buy the game.

Beta will be open in march and april. And remember all needs to evolve. Doom never had a proper multiplayer. Mostly Quake and remember that Halo 1 have a quake feeling. Nothing is forever, even animals change for good and bad.

Yeah I like how the SP is looking on this did you see those super secrets? There is one in each level I think and it takes you to a classic Doom level. Reminds me of what Wolfenstein did when you play some of the old levels :) Its releasing quite soon yeah thank goodness there isn't that weapon limit in SP.

I haven't seen any secret things. I'm still not that familiar with the franchise, even though I've know about it for as long as I can remember. I see it's going to be on Steam, but I might get it on PS4, whenever I get that.

My Steam games can play well, but this game looks like it's going to use up a lot of memory, even for my computer. I finally finished Painkiller, last week and the final battle against Death got a bit laggy. I had been playing it for a while and the Colosseum level was quite huge.

I'm assuming this game will have big areas. The fires are definitely more realistic. Remember how the Flamethrower use to lag Turok 2? xD Another reason why I'd rather get it on the console. No automatic background processes slowing the gaming down.

I probably won't get a PS4 anytime too soon, but I will eventually. My birthday is in two months... I don't expect presents these days, though and only get money.

I see it's out on Steam. I'm thinking of getting the BFG edition to Doom 3. I haven't seen any sale on it, yet.

I'm sure my computer can handle Doom 4 and I have 8GB of RAM along with those others listed, but I'd be happy getting it on PS4. Also, running Turok and Painkiller on Steam seems to make my computer run hot to the point where I need to point a fan at it. Steam lives up to its name! xD

Yes Doom 3 BFG comes with RoE it also has another episode on there and of course Doom 1 and 2 :)

Playing the old Doom, as well as Doom 3.

The BFG Edition is much better and I also noticed a better sound with the shotgun. The shotgun is my most used and trusty weapon, except for situations when it's a long ranged skirmish. I also noticed that the ammo capacity is more in each weapon. I can't wait to get the Plasma Gun again (my favourite voice actress does Theresa Chasar).

The old Doom is fun to play. I have to remember that there's no jump and also get use to what certain items look like.

I'm not really serious about making videos, at least for now... Besides, that Bandicam watermark is pretty shitty in the videos that I did upload.

Anyway, the more I play the original game, the more I see how Turok was inspired by it. I came across a backpack. Also, had my first death against those two Hell Barons. I should've saved my game because I had to replay the two levels before that and I made a habit of saving every few minutes in Doom 3 (not on the BFG version). xD

I'm on the Deimos levels, now.

Also, enemies attack each other on purpose in Doom and Turok. I have a strong feeling the Turok devs got that right out of Doom well you know with David's comment about Doom and Duke Nukem.

Man I like to have more of a field of view when I play fps games is all. But they fixed the fov issue it works great last I checked though. With the Halo gloves well i'm not dissing Halo with that statement its actually more directed at Doom. I can't help but to think that it looks a bit like Halo gloves :P I mean in Doom 64 he has gloves but they don't look like that. But hey the Doom marine does have green armor so it makes some sense.

I didn't know the enemies in-fight in the old game, but I got it to work when I played, earlier.
You didnt know? Huh. Weird. Well its fun to mess around with, i used to spawn friendly monsters years ago and use them to help me kill everything else.
I spawned like 20 imps and they started killing everything they saw except me. It was super fun, you should try it!

I just beat the Cyberdemon. Is it me or does the music sound a bit... French? xD
No, not really no.

I must be trippin' then... And I've never done drugs! xD

I'm starting to get further in the game and just finished the House of Pain level. I even beat the first chapter on Ultra-Violence mode and the first level on Nightmare. Does Nightmare mode infinitely spawn enemies? I didn't stick around long enough to find out, but it seemed like they were.

I should play with you on mp and also set you up with one of my buddies. He plays it everyday and is dedicated to Doom 3. I am pretty sure he likes it more then the new Doom :) Well he is a great player though its possible he may be among the top players or the top player imo hehe. I will show you to him on steam you may have already met with him now since you played. But I like the mp on Doom 3 also I played it a bit I have some videos of that to.

Yes I really like the new Doom honestly. Ever since the new Shadow Warrior game in 2013 classic fps games have developed a new level of action. Developers started to learn that we like it fast baby xD and upgrading armor and weapons is perfectly fine in sp. I am glad we don't do that in mp! That would be a big difference.

Anyways, I decided to make a level on snapmap for the heck of it. But i'm going to go ahead back to the Doom 64 editor now. If you have Doom and want to play the level is called Hellfire64 obviously and if you want to search by code instead. The code for my level is here: HE8JYR8R

Man that looks great didn't know you were making a Doom map, perfect. Of course it is for Doom 64 to. Looks nice though I can tell it has a good layout. Cool looking snapmap level to i am going to play it today. I can't believe they didn't include the hell environments yet either. They said they would be adding somethings to snapmap for free eventually hopefully they stick to it and it includes those.

Man sorry that I missed the Doom release here you already know why though. Its been a great game so far better then expected.

I did this a few times before, in the other rooms and even died, but this video had the best ending because I was on 2%. When I played the Hell level, got the Berserker and one-punched a bunch of Imps and two Hell Knights, that's when I thought about trying it with no power. I had a feeling that someone already had this kind of video up on YT.

Also, the Hell Knights cheat and use plasma! Oh well, I told the ref not to disqualify him and at least he didn't kick... xD

When I first played this in full (and not as a demo) last year, I had trouble fighting Hell Knights. I thought the BFG's single blasts would be too dangerous at point blank range, but I now know that it only has dangerous splash damage when charged. My first encounter with the Hell Knights took a few times because I didn't know the code to the BFG room at the time.

I've been playing the Lost Mission on Doom 3 and I love the Grabber Gun. I knew that Imp/Hell Knight fireballs could be caught and shot at them from one of Duke's videos. I didn't watch it all because I didn't want spoilers and it was only a matter of time before I'd get the game with both Lost Mission and Resurrection of Evil.

Also, I killed two zombies with a cardboard box fired from the Grabber. Luckily they're slow because it took half a dozen times to hit them and the box often bounced away. I should've recorded it! xD It kind of reminds me of Half-Life's Gravity Gun.

All I can think of is an artifact type weapon that can create a vortex of fiery bone fragments, but that idea is kind of similar to the magic power "Reaper Storm" in Darksiders 2 where Death can turn his body into that for a short time. It's disappointing how weak that magic is in that game.

It can use demon bones as ammunition and I like it better as a mega-weapon, rather than a simple flechette type gun like my original idea. As for the kills that the weapon does, it doesn't give you ammunition unless you feed it with direct brutal kills when wielding it. The weapon being like some kind of a huge gauntlet that gives you power to crush skulls and rip spines out with ease. When it can no longer store any more bones in its mystical demon void, it's ready conjure a storm of fiery, explosive bone fragments and kill any demon in the area.

Yeah, I'm trying to come up with this as I go a long. That or a simple demon bone firing gun, I guess... My thoughts are: There is no better way to kill demons and add insult to injury death, than with a cursed weapon made from the bones of their own fallen Demon Lords! >:D

On to Doom 2... There's a lot more levels that I expected. I didn't think the BFG version would be big, seeming it only has two episodes. I just finished the Chasm level. I got frustrated with the Citadel before, because I couldn't figure how to get the blue skull key and then I got crushed. I spammed plasma ammo at Imps because I wasn't going to save the game, but then I decided to play on as I found my way. Out of all the times I don't spam my ammo, I never get a big fight, but when I did this time, the fucking Cyberdemon and Spider Mastermind where there waiting and I hardly had any BFG9000 ammo left! xD

I'm also playing Resurrection of Evil and I feel they missed a good joke with that "Artifact"... They should've called it "The Heartifact" instead! :P

I meant the Artifact in RoE. The only name I can think of for the weapon is "Condemnation". It's hard to decide whether it should be a gauntlet or gun... I wasn't planning on entering, just giving some ideas. I probably would've if it was a PS4, then I never win anything.

Those cards, I know that Painkiller has them, too. How do I get more of the same one? I had two Devil Monks, but turned one into gems. I don't want to turn any others into gems because I want to least keep one. Maybe if I play the game again, certain levels or is it random? I wish the game would give me an Eve one... She's hot! :P

Would I be able to find you on DOOM through PS4 and play a match, or are the servers separate on both PS4 and Steam? I heard that published snapmaps are available to all, when I read some comments.

With my experiences with God of War (even though that's not the same thing), I'm hoping that DOOM isn't separated by servers or whatever... There's hardly anyone on during the times I want to play and a majority of players on GoW are annoying as fuck, if not super laggy. There's only a few people I play with.

I've also heard that there's no Deathmatch in DOOM... Why haven't Bethesda added that? I'm not always a team player and I like killing anyone and EVERYONE! >:D

That's kind of disappointing... :| But, Snapmap looks like fun!

Waiting on multiplayer lobbies are boring and that's what I'm hoping I won't have to put up with, when I get the game... But, I won't be a few years late in joining a multiplayer, this time. I just hope there's a lot who are playing this on PS4, like I know there is with Steam. When I'm not playing the story, I'll probably be using Snapmap more than multiplayer. I like creating things. Multiplayer can be addictive, though...

I saw bits of that video, but I'm trying not to spoil it. I don't want to know my way around these areas, before playing! xD I've watched more of the Snapmap videos. Like how some guy was making one, yours and one playing as a Baron.

I was playing DOOM 2 last night and I found a secret level after finishing level 4 in "No Rest For The Living". I should've saved it on a separate save slot... I take it I skipped a bunch of levels?

Anyway...

Too bad you can't throw green fire at enemies, or can you? Even if you can't use all of the Baron's powers, you can still fuck shit up! >:D

It's apart of a lot of scenery in both games, but it's mainly on Earth (after the apocalypse) and Shadow's Edge/The Black Stone, which is an outpost of Hell ruled by Samael and Lilith (the demoness in my signature). This was the first thing I thought of.

From what I've seen, the Baron's fighting style is more like a tank. I'd also play the Revenant, too. I would give all the demons a play. How many others can you be? I think I saw someone as an Imp on a video.

I don't know anything about the Prowler yet, but I take it that it's going to be one fun demon to face, like the other heavyweights that you mentioned. It would be funny if the Cacodemon was an option! xD

I'm replaying the first Doom again and on Hurt Me Plenty mode. I'm thinking about getting Final Doom on Steam. It's not that much. I enjoyed Doom 2 and found some secrets through the levels, including the secret level on No Rest For The Living.

I think I played it back in the day when my brother hired it, but I can hardly remember. I'd like to, but I'd probably have to run it on Project64 and I haven't used that in a while. I'm not sure how good the ROM will play. With my experience on Dinosaur Hunter, the ROM crashed a lot. Especially in the Ancient City. I'm glad it came out on Steam.

I watched a bit of game play the other week where someone was playing a level called "In The Void", which reminded me of the look in the first Turok.

Yeah, I decided to download the builder last night.

I had a bit of trouble saving my map at first because I changed its name from "MAP01" to "THE_ABYSS". I probably shouldn't have changed that part? I started again and left the name, but named the WAD "The Abyss" and it seems fine. I'm just made a simple room and to go by its name, all the textures are water. I want my first map to be the most creepiest and unusual one.

I usually learn by playing around with settings, but I'll have to watch some videos.

EDIT:

I heard that BFG Edition didn't have a map editor, but let me know if you find something. If not, then it doesn't matter because I'll get to use Snapmap on the new Doom, when I have it.

Anyway, I attached a cap of my start progress. If you can't view it, let me know and I'll upload it to Tinypic. Anyway, it's just a simple beginning area that has a theme that reflects on my username and that.

I need help on understanding how to work teleporters. Since I made this post, I've changed a few things and got the water to work. The room is inspired by those warp rooms in Dinosaur Hunter:

Okay I will show how to make a portal in Doom Builder 64 even if you have already figured it out. So it could go for anyone here as I'm sure you have already figured out some of this Abyssal. Remember clicking on images enlarges them ;)

1.) Draw two squares inside of your sector. These will represent our portals.

2.) Enter lines mode and click on all lines on one of the squares.

3.) Right click on one the lines you highlighted. This is your line properties.
* Look for "Action" and set 39 as the number
*Under Identification give it a tag number. (It could be any number aslong as it doesn't correspond with another tag number your using in the map.)
*Under activation type set it to cross and also set repeatable if you wish for that.

4.) Now go into sectors mode and click and select on your second square. (Important: Make sure when you click on it you don't have the first square selected also. If it highlights both when you click on it just go into make sectors mode and click on both of them to make them separate sectors.)

5.) Right Click the highlighted sector this is your sector properties.
*Under Identification set the tag to match the tag you set for your lines on the first square.

6.) Now place a teleporter using things mode and go into visual mode.

7.) Right click on the teleporter and switch from properties tab to action tab.
*Set Identification number to match your tag numbers on the sectors.

That's all and it should work. But if you wish to make it travel back and forth you will have to do the same things using a different tag number on the opposite sectors.

Some notes off the top of my head:

V= Vertices mode
L=Lines mode
S=Sectors mode
B=Brightness mode
M=Make sectors mode
T=Things mode
G=makes player drop to floor pressing it again sets back to normal gravity.
H=Remove Highlighter
C=Clear all selections
F9= Test play

Another note: To find all actions remember to click on this button. There you will find all of the actions instead of the quick accessed ones :)

I still don't know how to make the maps playable, yet because I went Save Game in the test play and then when I tried to load my saved game, I got an error. For now, I'll just focus on my Ruins level inspired architecture and I'll ask how to make it function properly when I'm done. Warning: I do get lazy but I am enjoying this.

I'll have to reference your post, but I should know after a few times of doing it. Using this is like Photoshop and all the other programs I've used. I get how to do things quickly and only when I'm interested. xD

I'm still making changes to it, but I'm pretty happy with this. This is a Turok styled platforming and it can be done because I've tested it. I've made it that you have to jump every pillar and the centre pillar has a Red Skull Key.

To avoid making the last pillar (on the left) before the Skull Key pillar completely useless, I've raised the centre pillar so that you can't make that jump, as you can see in the third picture.

Also, if you fall... Then tough titties! :P I've set all the damage parameters (5% %10 %20) on to as much damage as it can do! >:D I don't know why only having 20% damage on, only damages him 10% at a time and when I stack it, it usually takes off 17%... Anyway, it's suppose to compensate for there being no bottomless pit falls in this game and this more of a challenge.

All this will be closed off and for now, it's the bleeding heart of my Abyss map. If there's a way to spawn enemies on a trigger, I might also throw in a few grunts who land on the pillars like the ones at the end of the Ancient City do.

That is an interesting idea making the map like that having platform sections like Turok. I would surely play your map and playing it for fun to man really nice to see mapping for Doom 64! I will have to go over how to package the wad to be game ready. Its not so difficult but there is issues that you could come across I imagine. I will go over it while I package mine so no worries again. And I have started on map 2 for Doom 64 now also :) Glad the teleport works yess.

I need to figure out how to make objects like horizontal beams/platforms. Right now, I can only extrude platforms from the floor. I want to have like a top area that hangs out towards the pillar with the key, without having a whole section of wall under it. I'm sure you get what I mean... I'll try and find out by playing around more. I think I might need to make new sections outside the map and change the parameters before placing it inside the rooms?

Once I figure it out, it will look much better.

Niice! making a little tribute to The Campaigner level there it made me think about adding some Turok textures into Doom 64 ex though. So we can use some Turok stuff on it if anyone ever wanted to :) We could create a little Turok texture package. Just a side thought there. I will probably post my Doom 64 map come Friday possibly sooner. I will probably include ways to help make the wad launch through Doom 64 Ex that way you at least got that also. Could you tell me what's happening when you try to launch it so I know the issue? Pretty fun having someone else making a map hopefully more do some :) Can even be Turok based as you can see.

I have been toying with Doom 3 editor some also. Man I feel all Doomed out Doom 64 mapping and Doom 3 mapping same time! Now I want to try and make a tribute to a Turok level in Doom man in one of these editors Doom 64 or Doom 3 I want to make city 4 from Turok 2 hehe.

Had a question do you think we should just release the maps in this thread or? I was thinking that because this Doom thread seems to get a lot of post's so if you release a map in here it may be overlooked or drowned out. What if we had a user maps or user content section in general? I don't know just some thoughts maybe it is not such a good thought :)

I think the map needs to be exported in some way... I'm not at that point yet, anyway. I wish there were more tutorials on Doom 64, because the other Doom games have different settings.

As for opening Doom 3 Editor, I might have to update it because something wasn't working... I did download the game for free (don't judge, I still bought the game! xD) and I can restore it from deletion, from a backup. I should've kept and updated it, even when I bought the BFG Edition on Steam. I prefer the BFG Edition, but not having a map editor with it is the only sucky thing. At least it came with the old games, though.

I was thinking there should be another thread for that. I feel as if I've posted more about Doom on here, even though I have played Turok games much longer. Then, my map is Turokcentric and it's not feeling like normal Doom, as much. xD

I won't make too many, but this is my progress. I learned myself how to make the enemies 'Deaf', so that they stay in their positions during the Nightmare Imp fight. I still don't know how to make doors or bridges, yet.

The Chainsaw will be better hidden and some demons like Barons and Knights will be set to 'Nightmare Creatures' mode. I'll call them "Abyssal Knights and Barons"! >:D The basics a pretty easy. Creating the stairs are a bit tricky. The way he slides down stairs is almost like a damn fun slide! xD

Thanks for the thing on doors, I'll try that soon. I won't post any previews tonight. Last night, I posted what I wanted to and I didn't die when jumping the pillars because of recording lag. xD

Yeah, make a thread or something. I know there's a few Doom fans and also fans of other games (especially Duke Nukem). I barely remember Duke Nukem 64 from having it hired, but I did play Manhattan Project many years ago on my older computer. I know that wasn't FPS. I remember activating the cheats on that game and then I couldn't turn them off. They still activated by certain keystrokes.

Too bad I can't seem to load the sky textures, because I wanted some open areas, but I might leave that for another map. My current map is more sunken than Atlantis, anyway.

If there's any tutorials on making bridges or midair platforms, let me know. I don't plan on having midair platforms unless I want to make a forming staircase like in the Lost Land (fortress half), but it might come in handy. That's if it can be done?

Once you make your map, I'd like to play it, too.

Also, for the Doom 3 editor try launching the game and making it windowed first. Then re-launch and try it again. Don't get it on steam right now though the summer sale is coming and I would think Doom 3 would make it on there quite cheap. But yeah probably best to focus on the Doom 64 editor since your picking it up there plus I can't wait to see what it eventually turns out to be :)

I don't really want to buy the same game twice and I did that with the editor. I'll give it another try at some point and if I'm having an issue, I'll post what it is.

It's the next room at the bottom of the stairs, where I placed the normal Imp. It's quite tricky to cut out a new doorway, then maybe if I had unchecked the "Impassable" option any sooner, it wouldn't have taken as long. xD

Anyway, I was trying out some new wall features (water with blue flames) and I made a good guess to set the cage textures to "Occlusion". Seeming I wasn't quite sure what that word meant, I figured it may give me the effect I wanted. I know how to set up the lighting and it looks pretty cool with flickering. I might make the light beams going slightly wider on the oposite walls, seeming light gets wider at a distance. The second picture is a test. I did a few tests before I built all these wall features. There will be Pinky Demons in that room, too.

I was playing the Alter of Pain before and I was looking at how the textures worked. This has become the first game where I can understand the workings of, because I've never used an editor before, apart from Age of Empires (a Medieval strategy game). Also, I just realized that I missed the secret level. >_<

By the way... How to I un-tile the texture on the doors and make it only one demon face?

Really awesome looking! Nice update there love the lighting. Sorry I can't remember how to stretch textures right now to many editors at once heheh. I will be jumping in Doom 64 builder tomorrow to clean things up and then to post my map hopefully. I will be sure to check on that I have this small feeling I was unable to do it on there though but I can't remember clearly.

I'll still need to make a colour pallet, so I can keep it consistent as I mentioned on my video, so this isn't the final look and I can't forget shadows and adding in some rubble/clutter! I changed the bars textures on the wall features, too. I like that better.

You really made a lot of progress I am actually quite impressed myself. Really like how you embrace the color blue on this level seems special to me. Normally a new mapper does not really think much about lighting or shadows and you already are in your first one.

Did you notice my download link for my Doom 64 map? If you wish I can put all Turok forum members doom 64 maps on that server. So if you want just let me know and we can put your map there to. It could be like a collection of Doom 64 maps from Turok forums members or something. Plus its a better link to share to people for download instead of a media fire link or something. But its fine either way all you got to do is say the words.

I'm sort of an artist, so I like to make sure that everything I make looks perfect. Besides, I don't do things simple. Hopefully I don't get lazy on this because it will take some time. The next map I decide to make, I might make another Abyss theme, but without the shape of my icon. I've had to limit the sizes on some areas to conform to this current map. "Abyssal Fortress" might be the name of my next one. There's a whole bunch of other ideas that will come to mind, so it won't be the same thing. I like the colour blue, anyway. Blue fire, water effects, electricity... Anything like that looks cool to me.

A chaos theme is coming to mind. I treat this like my art, so don't expect the normal from me. xD

I may give some mercy in that pit area and I might dial down the damage, unless there's a way for save mid game. It's pretty easy to slip, but the key is NOT to sprint. Normal walking speed works. Speaking of that area, my first hallway (which will have Pinky Demons) is on the opposite side to it.

I was looking at it on Visual Mode above the ceiling and it reminded me of the area in the Ruins where you find the Chronoscepter piece. That wasn't intentional, that's just how it went. xD I still don't know how to resize textures, but I learned how to use the offset so that I can make the textures look even.

Yeah floor design is awesome looks really cool. The tall blue hallway does show signs of the blue portal levels in Turok 1 for sure.

It's not meant to be tall, but just reminded me in Visual Mode. Maybe I'll try to make something like that at some stage, even if on a new map. All I need is the four almost indestructible Leapers! xD I like the Chaos Symbol (Arms of Chaos) because it kind of reminds me of a diagram of the Big Bang/Universe's expansion.

I love The Ruins because it has some of the most trippy looking things. The column of water that defies the laws of physics, which is my favourite and the invisible path that gets you the Grenade Launcher.

I created my first teleport ambush.



I watched Chubzdoomer's video and also looked at some of the hidden rooms on your map. Do you know how to script an enemy spawn on weapon pickup? Sadly, I couldn't find a video on Doom 64, only the older game. It would be quicker than making a whole room.

I'm happy with how it's working and I did get most of the wall texture seamless, save for the bottom where I put one of my blood candles. xD I saw the map you played. Too bad you didn't have a Chainsaw when fighting those Pinkies. That's the best weapon for that job and why a Pinky spawns on my map.

I may have to check out that map you played, too.

EDIT: I figured out another way of spawning enemies and not having the extra rooms anywhere near, by using the "Alert Thing" on a tripwire and tagging a certain number. I'm going to get rid of that Pinky room and place it where it won't interfere with where I want to build. I should've thought of this earlier.

That is a good ambush though at the right moment there makes you feel trapped and its a little jump scare. Kind of crazy I was just talking to Chubzdoomer yesterday. Been busy this week but I started on something for Doom 64 again :)

I don't know him, but his videos came up. As for that Pinky, I changed the ambush, although it's still the same. I moved the room more off the main map.

Outside "The Abyss", I have a few other ideas (like the Mayan Temple of Tikal that had blood sacrifices to their Gods, but instead opened a gateway for the Demons). I just realized the skybox setting and it looks better as I look up. These sky textures are good, but I wish I could preview the thumbnail so that I can select the one I want.

This video was more practice and I'm starting to understand the settings more. I tagged all the Cacodemons and the tripwire "666", but the portals still needed their own number. I can't seem to spawn two things through one portal. xD

Another good idea for a map would be portals, inspired on the game, only without GLaDOS... Or the hot protagonist, Chell. :( LOL!

And I know you have Portal 2 from seeing your Steam profile, Duke, so you'll know what I'm talking about. I always liked making two portals on the wall and being able to see her reflection. *Heart Eyes* xD

You need to work on more DOOM snapmaps and I'll remember to play yours, when I can.

Some weird thing happens when testing out this way of spawning enemies. I kill a Cacodemom and then he comes back to life when I step over the same area that alerted him to teleport. This is as soon after killing him.

EDIT: I think it's because I made a square in the floor (with all sides set to trigger the demon) and before I stepped over it again to resurrect the demon, I noticed that one side was still yellow, until I crossed it. I wanted to be 100% sure that picking up the Chaingun would require a test fire. xD I'm thinking of replacing it with the Double Barrel and making it the next pickup. Also, making Imps spawn for the Chaingun.

I going to think about adding more pickups and maybe only having three Nightmare Imps, because it was quite hard when I tried on a higher difficulty. Dodging them in that small area is also hard and they're faster with their fire attacks. I didn't want to make it too easy, though. It's hard to find a balance that will make it a challenge, without being impossible.

I'm not sure if I'll use all weapons. I think a Rocket Launcher is good enough for killing the powerful demons and it will be a challenge to use, because of the close quarter ambushes.

I played Vital Fluid on "I Own Doom!" mode, last night. The first time, I died and ran out of ammo, but got it the second time.

This map was out of boredom and feeling the need to massacre some demons with all weapons and invincibility cheats on. There's a legion of 200 Barons in this one. xD Even with the BFG and having to reactivate the weapons cheat for more ammo, takes a while to kill them all. I even tried 1000 or I think 2000 Cyberdemons.

The map name is "The Event Horizon" because it reminds me of a Black Hole.

As for my Abyss map, I'm trying to figure out how to make a more complex area, now I'm further into the map. Doom maps often get you to backtrack, unlock stuff and find keys, as I took note after playing the Dark Citadel earlier. I have a way I want to get the blue key, but I need to lock it and set a switch for it. I did make a pillar that has four sides you "Use" and a Hell Knight Spawns, but I need to think of how this should be... Maybe it should open doors with the Hell Knights behind them and one room leads to the switch that unlocks the blue key cage. Of course, you need to visit the other rooms to open up the next.

There's no sequence breaking on my map, unless you want to "Betrüger" your way through the map. xD

I haven't played the game long enough or taken notice, but can platforms be set to raise after an enemy death? I want to do that like in Turok, like you see with the first lava pit in the first level. Make like a small staircase.

Well, it's my birthday today and I might be getting a PS4, later. My brother is going to take me to the shops. I need to get a new PS3 controller, while I'm at it. I'm still keeping my PS3. I wish the flames came in blue or there was a way to edit that texture. I might have to think of a proper Black Hole themed level. I don't know... "The Event Horizon" or "Shadow's Edge"? Shadow's Edge is actually the name of a Demon realm outpost (ruled by Samael) on Darksiders 2.

That world is also on the edge of a Black Hole, only it's caused by an entity called "Corruption" (Absalom).

It's the One Terabyte and also came with Bloodborne, Uncharted, Heavy Rain and GTA 5. When I got DOOM, the guy offered me the UAC pack version at the same price.

Hopefully I can get that download to not take so long, but I'm still trying to figure out the game play and story, first. I see that the weapons come with attachments. Already got two on my trusty shotgun. Also, I fell off the cliff like twice in the area where I took the screenshot. xD

Snapmap will probably get some more additions. It would be good if you could make rooms, but it still looks good enough. I haven't really started, yet. I did practice something.

I'm still trying to get use to Bloodborne because it's quite hard and I have three other games to play. I'm going to have to get PS Plus, but I'm in no hurry.

I take it I need it to be able to find Duke's maps and others? I know I need to be a member for multiplayer. A lot different to PS3, where I could just enter and not need PS Plus.

I swear, that music is funny and reminded me of French accordions, when I first fought the Cyberdemon in the first Doom (BFG Version). I needed to find the quirkiest sounding tune (to me) for the Cacodemons. xD

As I replied to you on YT, I'm not abandoning Doom 64. I still need to learn switches for unlocking doors and so on... Also, I need to make some dart traps. The Dark Citadel level helped give me an even more nefarious idea. >:D

PS: The funny thing about the sunset/sunrise in DOOM (that I capped) is, the real Martian sky looks blue at those times.

Still, that sky looks cool and I guess they wanted to keep the fiery colours. It doesn't matter, though. I like the way the sky looks. Sunset is a favourite time of day, apart from midnight.

I guess because a favourite character of mine has those powers, then I always liked blue coloured fire or anything to do with plasma/electricity or the ocean.

I saw that on a video, but forgot it was in that area until I saw the switch and remembered. I fought the level looked familiar... I always seem to carry a shotgun in my screenshots. xD The shotgun is my most reliable weapon, when I don't miss. Doom 3 made me use the shotgun a lot more, because of the close quarter Imp ambushes. Even in 2145 (in real life), I bet the shotgun will still be used in combat. It's a timeless weapon not matter how it's evolved.

A shotgun with the explosive shell augmentation and the assault rifle with a telescope on it is my current setup, along with the plasma gun. I like sniping abilities, too.

I've been playing Snapmap for snap points. I'll start a PS Plus in a couple of weeks or more than a week at the least.

I don't know I don't really like snap map for some reason personally. Maybe its because everyone has the same rooms and they only released the  space sci fi base modules. Something just seems off with snapmap for me. I felt very limited on what I can build and it makes me sad. But I will still play my friends maps :)

The blue tint looks pretty awesome in the snapmap there. Snapmap is not the best but its pretty fun to mess around and create at least one map imo. And when the Hell themes and stuff arrive I know for sure I will have at least another 1-2 Snapmap maps. The art in those are to amazing to pass on :) But I still have been mapping in Doom 64 and Doom 3 here is a shot of the Doom 3 level ;)

Yeah, you can't make your own rooms which is disappointing, but it would probably be too complicated if it had more stuff like Doom Builder. I haven't created one yet, but I will at some stage. They need more outdoors stuff.

Can you extrude platforms out of the ground or create separate objects in Doom 3? The map builder looks like fun, but haven't bothered to try again at getting it to run.

I just played Doom tonight, while this was uploading. It's an easy Snapmap to play. I even customized the weapons that I was going to use in this. I need to get more snap points to unlock that "Crotch Chop" taunt and do that in my next play. Taunt the demons! xD

My aim is getting a little better, but it's still easy to aim with a mouse in shooting games. I was trying not to embarrass myself, too much. I picked up a bit of ammo when I didn't need to, but my screen is cracked in that corner and it's a bit hard to see my ammo count.

Yes you can create brushes which would generally be a square yet you can reshape them and then you texture them and shape them up some. Its much better then snapmap to me less limits. But snapmap.. its an easier to use more of a fun tool nothing wrong messing with it. Nice video also :)

I'll have to watch some videos on Doom 3 Builder. Yesterday, I was more occupied with stealing a fighter jet on GTA (making a video on that) and dog-fighting the police helicopters with it. xD

Next time I play Doom again, I'll be at Kadingir. This game is a lot lighter than Doom 3, even in Hell. Before I switched off the game for the night, I did look up and see a planet. I've beaten all the Rune challenges that I've found, so far. Killing the Unwilling with the Sawed-Off was a bit tricky. Probably took me the most attempts and the shotgun is my most used weapon type! xD

Anyway, I started playing multiplayer tonight. I managed to become the Baron a few times and even got one Chainsaw kill. I think I leveled up to Level 14. The server disconnected a few times. :| It was fun.

I want to try and do some door openings triggered by an enemy death and how to make some doors stay open, once a switch has been used. Also, how do you make the switches change to the lit up version and click, after use?

Hope you get better :S I will make a quick guide how to make switches correctly. Its not hard just a little trick it took me awhile to get it right though :)

Guys gamestop has a new alt cover for Doom 2016. All you have to do is walk in and ask for the alt cover no requirements and FREE even if you don't own the game. I think its pretty bad ass. Mine doesn't fit on my tin collector's case but I still grabbed two :)) I believe this is on Amazon also. Anyways..limited supplies. Dat old font.

I'll need a guide because I want this next area being more of a place where you need to use switches to unlock each area in order to find the main switch to the cage that has the Blue Key in it.

My head's still in the realm of dreams because these tablets are strong, so it's hard to explain at the moment.

Before, I made a door out of three stone pillars. I'm going to try more complex doors, now that I got it. I made all three into one section, so they act as one object. I need to texture my doors better and I know that adding vertices gives me separate surfaces. One of Chubz' videos the other week, showed me that you can move textures with the arrow keys. I wish I had known that sooner, for saving time on the tedious way of lining a texture up.

I'll probably be back on my PS4 soon, but I should spend some nights on this map and other stuff I've been wanting to do.

The shotgun spawns two Cacodemons. I definitely got the spawning to work. The blue key is in that cage and to the left is the big room that has a stone throne with the Chaingun (where I have the two Hell Knights). The cage is suppose to open by a switch, further on.

I'm still feeling sleepy, so this is still roughly made. I just have to figure out how it's going to work...

I don't have a Facebook, so I can't view the link, Doomguy.

I just put in my PS4 earlier after seeing your post. I probably won't be able to catch the double XP thing because this update is massive! It's over 13GB. I take it that it's all the new Snapmap stuff. I just got a 12 month subscription to PS+ Even if I miss the double XP by the time the game downloads the update and lets me access the multiplayer, I'm already at level 44.

Still no Death Match? If so, I can't understand why they don't have one. Anyway, the Hell modules look cool. As much as I like the Snapmap levels, I do prefer more natural looking environments and ancient architecture. What's the new demon called? It looks cool.

I saw a bit of that Brutal Doom. The lighting looks good and is reminding me of remastered Turok. The shotgun kills are always satisfying! xD I can't think of a lot of creative stuff at the moment, but I could take a look at what you're making. Like I said, I don't have a FB, but I can check the group on Steam.

I don't know why Steam wouldn't let me send a reply on the group comments for some reason, but it finally sent. I'll check there more often.

I'll give that a try, later on. I did try earlier, but got it wrong and then I went on to my PS4 and played Bloodborne most of the late afternoon. I wanted to download that new Doom update, which is taking a long time. I think the download size has become less when I put it back on, so it must saved what I've downloaded and not make me start all again. 8 Hours was still too long.

Once I get the switches figured out, my map should progress a bit more. The switch puzzle will be fun, once I figure out the frustrating parts. xD

I tried the switch before, but it kept on crashing the test play with an error. I'll have to go over the guide again and use Vital Fluid as a reference. I keep forgetting to look at that, when I have trouble with something.

Well I'm just improvising as much as I can hehe build stuff using props xD Its still pretty limited but you can bend it some though not everyone does. I haven't seen one with its own structure. But I'm sure there is one out there. That's the other problem its pretty hard to find snapmaps especially when one of the achievements is publish a snapmap. So i'm pretty sure some people just posted something real easy and kind of dumb just to get it.

But its fun to mess with overall well at least to me I like to build stuff. My next snapmap is even better for sure which is nearly done. After this next one is done should be tomorrow, I'm going to continue where I was on that map you sent over on Doom 64. I will probably make another one especially if they release more environments and stuff later.

I'm going to have to get back into this because I spent time player more Bloodborne, again. xD I'll have another go at the switch again. I don't know why it didn't work, but I'll try on my map instead of making a new map.

My update on PS4 did finish, yesterday. I don't think I needed any achievements to find yours and use the search. Steam might have a different way of online privileges? I know all online stuff on PS4 requires a PS+ membership.

Speaking of people making dumb maps... I remember seeing this video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yslS6U4tUSs) on YouTube and the guy saying not to make "A Swastika made of dicks" on it. xD

EDIT: I managed to get a switch on my map, but the textures roll a few times before stopping on the lit one. xD It doesn't stop moving until the door stops. I'm getting it, but I'll have to look over what's going on. It will take some time to master, like the door did. Maybe because the sector is the same height as the door? I might post a video tomorrow, when I try again. I'll just work on the other parts, now I have at least got a working switch, despite how quirky it's functioning at the moment. xD

The switch needs fixing, but it functions good enough. I'm focused on making that big room.

Hint: That waterfall covers the way to getting the Chaingun from that throne. I won't give away too many secrets. Mid textures are good for Turok styled hidden walls. Just as long as you texture the inside of the block because I still had artifacts of green and orange pixels (from the zero texture), the first time I made the water. I made everything with the same water texture and it fixed the problem. Now it's less obvious, unless you read this. xD

I always texture, even the sides tat aren't seen because of that reason.

I replied. I was going to change the place of that switch, but I'll need the reference. That part of the map is deep under the default floor level, but I don't think that should cause issues... I'm just not sure.

Or when you copy paste a sector sometimes the editor recognizes that and for easier purposes it makes it the same sector. In 2D mode press "M" for "Make Sectors" and click on each sector you want to separate. Make sectors takes sectors that are combined and separates them to be there own. I didn't copy and paste, I just made it the same way and looked at reference. "2301" was my random tag number. xD I think I messed up the section on the switch, that was probably why. I'm going to try it again and if I can't get it right, I'll come back to it later in the day because it's just after midnight.

It was starting to annoy me and it's getting late. I'll try again later. I might even practice on a new map or area, so I don't have so much stuff causing me confusion.

Oh yeah make sectors mode can surely help I hope you get it still really want to see that map dude doesn't got to be perfection you know it is a first map it looks damn good for a first map really. Seems like its not the first xD

I found a video on switches (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mlTY0NKYlBo). I haven't watched it all yet, but I saw some of it and pretty much looks like what I've done from the guide.

Sometimes for me, watching videos are easier to follow because I can see every little click and how the lines were exactly drawn. The guide is still helpful and I've remembered a lot of the steps. I noticed one line of the sides of the working switch had no peg between the two vertices, as if one vertex wasn't snapped to the line... Also, that line is green.

Yeah, I put a lot of effort into the look of things, even when it's my first. That's probably another reason why I've made it harder for myself... xD I wanted the previews to look good and I treat this as the same as art.

I made a practice map and followed that video. I did make a mistake, but realized that I had the tag set to "2" and not "1" like I followed. The "2" was meant to be the door action. xD

It worked. Also,  I figured out how to un-peg the textures under and above the switch. That's why I made it the blood texture on my map, because I couldn't get it even with the wall.

Speaking of "Unpegged"... That door method did work this time. My map is strange, so that's why I had problems. Also, my rooms aren't done on solid "Impassable" lines... I think that's why things are not functioning properly. The only Impassable Linedefs were the outline shape that was made to look like my icon. I don't really feel like changing all my Linedefs because it might ruin some of the features, but I'll see if I can do a fix...

I think I made a huge nooby blunder! xD

Anyway, I'll keep this practice map and see if I can make another switch, without a guide. I have to remember this, like all the other stuff I've learned. It is a bit more complicated than the doors.

Yeah, I just tried a second switch that activates the same door and got it working just like that. I think I've got this, now.

I'll have to try on my Abyss map and see if I can do it this easily. I have to remember that most of my map is deep (hence the map name) and also the fact that my rooms aren't really separated by Impassable Linedefs. I'm sure that doesn't matter, though?

I can also set a lower texture and raise the little rectangle ceiling by two scrolls, but I'll do it the way the video showed normally. All I know is that my second map will be more improved, once this is done.

I'm going to get this done before starting a new one. The new one would be another Abyss theme, but without the map being limited to the shape of my icon. You won't really be able to see it all in the game play. Only if you view the editor.

The blue halls can be easily replicated seeming that it's of my own design and how I want it.

EDIT: I successfully placed a working switch on my map. I think I'm sure of the issue placing it on the wall I had tried... I need more Impassable Linedefs and absolutely nothing but a void where I want to place the switch. Seeming that was was pretty much the back of the other room's wall and apart of what use to be one room when I started, it must have caused a conflict. Also, the entire height or depth doesn't seem to matter because the middle texture worked fine.

I'll just have to redesign this whole layout and keep voids between walls. A bit of a pain in the arse, but I pretty much have the switch skill mastered. Now I can really create some puzzles. As for lifts, I should be able to get that. It looks pretty easy, although my map has more staircases.

I played Eye of The Storm and it's been a while since I played the main game. I look at the map on there and saw a lot of red line usage. When I do a new map, I'll try to make one more like the actual maps.

I was going to do another Abyss theme, but I kind of have an idea called "The Woeful Monument". It's a play on the Washington Monument. xD

I'm going to make more obelisk features.

It takes a lot of patience to do each little part down to the pixel, but it was worth it. I copied the other two on that, so it saved time. The big obelisk is now water texture and each step is a two pixel high increment, so it looks more pointy than the last picture, which was only one pixel. I also have Upper and Lower textures unpegged so it has a seamless look. I probably only need to do lower, but I like to be sure by unpegging both. xD

The outside area you'll get to when grabbing the Blue Key. Also, it's the next area outside the hall with the Blue Key. The door requires the key. This area with have enemies and will lead to the next sector on the other side of the map, where you'll have to search for the Yellow Skull Key. I wanted an open area and I love this sky texture. It's have thunder and lightning! That obelisk is a copy of the other one, but raised higher and turned to an angle that's parallel to the wall or edge of The Abyss.

I'm going to try a Turok inspired Lost Land Fortress by putting spiked features on the wall's outside. The candles in the hall make the walls on the opposite side (on the right of the picture) pointed and the structure gave me the idea.

I also raised the obelisk ceiling height to seamlessly reach higher than the normal sky texture. I put sky texture on the sidedefs of the ceiling part I raised. But, it could be left blank, I guess.

As tricky as some of the mapping can be to figure out, it's actually quite easy to do the basic stuff.

I was thinking, we should see who can create the most outrageous and complex structures.

Also, I was wondering how you can edit/colour textures.

Like making a black liquid in some places like in the Catacombs and also making the sky box that has the flames in blue. I can easily edit colours of textures on Photoshop, but I don't know how to get the files from the game. Maybe there could be a Textures Thread in the other forum?

I'd like to know how to create some of these.

That area in Darksiders 2 is The Kingdom of The Dead, so it's not quite hellish. It's more a neutral realm.

That demon head statue at the entrance of Kadingir also has similar horns to the demon, Samael.

And he has a statue of himself above his palace or throne room, but you see stones break off and float into the sky because of a giant black hole slowly destroying the realm. I can see a lot of Darksiders in the Hell look. Even the runes and different coloured fires.

I don't know why I haven't made a Snapmap with the new Hell stuff, yet... But, Bloodborne is addictive. xD

I downloaded and played "Dine In Hell" earlier.

I don't know what it was, but I died the first time and I couldn't respawn. All I could do is move the camera around the corpse of the character... Does Snapmap have a glitch? This happened when I played your other one, but it didn't happen the second time I died.

When I got killed before, it was by an Unwilling and I think I just killed the first Baron on the map, at that moment. xD

Snapmap does have bugs for sure heheh sometimes gameplay is not the exact and stuff like that. Some of the nodes sometimes glitch. It surely has issues lately people been complaining about the monsters not spawning correctly etc etc. Probably best to not die hehe It is possible to not die on my maps though some maps it isn't lol.

Hopefully they fix it up, if that's the case.

Sometimes I get killed by a one shot kill while still healthy, but I spray another player with Plasma and it takes longer for them to die. I guess they have armor and use the Hack Mods, but I'm like "WTF?!" when I get one shot killed. xD

I remember when first hearing on here about there only being two weapons at once in MP, but it's actually better that way because you don't get confused choosing the right one during a gunfight. Besides, you can change loadout while waiting to respawn. The reason I die in the main campaign and Snapmap is because I can't decide which weapon I want to use and which two I want to be able to quickly change back and forth.

That's how the Barons almost had me, too. xD

WEll finally got to play DOOM 4 and its a really fun game.

I was really impressed by the enemies and the bosses, specially the bosses.  I barely see bossfights on FPS which are not heavily scripted and just have to shoot til it dies.

Im not quite sure how to feel about the chainsaw as your main source of ammo, since during fights you can replenish your favorite guns and never have to cycle trough the others because you ran out of ammo.

Also I hope the sequel gets to have an arcade mode or some way to have stages more traditional to what they where in the first games. Dont get me wrong, the stage layout is great in this game but when you think about it its quite straightforward with eventual "fight arenas"

Yeah, the stage and enemy placements werent the best, and the fact that you get locked on an area until you clear it, but I guess is a good start if they are smart enough to improve things in the next game.

Something random but its about Doom 64 EX.  Kaiser is a genius for doing this. So in Doom the way to change sector colors is to open the script for your map and add some code to change the sector. Which looks something like this.

But on Doom 64 ex this is how you change the colors and how Kaiser made it so we can choose the colors on all parts of the sectors and made sector colors more friendly. I'm just amazed at these little things. Thought someone might appreciate that :) I been using GzDoom lately btw. But I still have two DooM 64 ex maps I'm working on :)

Thanks dude and some of it was done by Sixty :) I sent it back to him because he wanted to add some more. But this map should take us some time here. After he sends it back I have a few things to take care of like gameplay and stuff. There is only two keys so far, so I will still be looking to see if anyone would like to do another part but if not is okay I can do :) The visual color selecting is easier and faster than scripting it.

Yep Snapmap got some updates which included the old school modules now. It also has the ability to texture blocking volumes now so you can nearly create almost anything with it now. ts a little less limited. And its bad ass but if I'm going to build maps its going to be in classic Doom :)

My PS4 is acting funky (xD) and I need to fix it. The Store, Community and PS+ are stuck on "Please Wait..." and it's pissing me off. I might need to initialize it, whenever I get a USB stick to backup things, first. It's annoying, but I can still play my games.

What about DLC levels? Any of them, yet or still too soon?

My PS4 is acting funky (xD) and I need to fix it. The Store, Community and PS+ are stuck on "Please Wait..." and it's pissing me off. I might need to initialize it, whenever I get a USB stick to backup things, first. It's annoying, but I can still play my games.

What about DLC levels? Any of them, yet or still too soon?

There have been dlc mp levels. Nothing for sp campaign yet. There was a free update the other day with somearcade mode though not sure what it is yet.  Also, it said there was a new mode prowlers vs marines. And there is a new dlc releasing tomorrow for mp 3 new maps, a new playable demon, and new weapon and stuff. Its called Hell Followed.

Finally, I have better chances of my gunshots hitting an enemy and not be friendly fire! >:D I prefer a FFA over Team DM.

If was fun when I played Doom 3 BFG and I couldn't understand why they didn't add this mode to the new game. Anyway, it's been a while since I last played.

I was so into Bloodborne, I didn't even check. xD

I tried looking for a Death Match, but no one was waiting. I decided to go TDM. Everyone seems to be there... I finally chose another demon and tried the Revenant. I didn't get much chance though and I still prefer the Baron. The new maps are cool and I did well on a map for the first time. It was the one where you can walk outside this space station and do a lot of low gravity jumps. I think I came 1st in that one.

I tried the arcade thing, too. I was wondering when they will add new levels because I thought I saw something mention Phobos. If I can remember from the booklet, it had a picture.

I just bought the DLC earlier. I love the Reaper weapon! I need to get the other DLC, too. The Cacodemon was fun to try. xD The moment I decided to try Mancubus as I entered a match, I got it.

It's annoying when the server disconnects during a match, because I was doing good in one. This was when I used my shotgun only loadout.

Duke, that switching of shotguns trick that I saw on one of your Snapmap videos a while ago, works and I tried it. I'm still a shit aim, so I died a lot. xD

This also has the original Doom game on it, which I didn't know.

Sometimes the little window gets stuck on startup and the screen behind it is black. I don't know why it does that, but I can still play. I just have to Ctrl, Alt & Del and try again until it shows up normally.

I would love to see how my map would look on this, but it's not possible yet, isn't it?

Just some wins from the other day.

The Hellshot has become my new favourite weapon. Single shot weapons aren't easy, but the Hellshot does a lot of damage. The Vortex Rifle is also good, but much harder to aim and the laser sight giving away your location.

Also, Kinetic Mines and Threat Pulse seem to help.

I can't seem to figure out the tongue attack on the Cacodemon. I couldn't get it to work. :/ I'll just stick to Baron and Mancubus for the time being. They're demons I know how to use. I don't even get what happened to the Revanant's jet-pack before, when I gave that a try.

What disables it? It is like the Mancubus getting overheated when firing too many missiles?

Yeah I been deep in Doom lately again how you doing Son of Stone. Its this threads fault why we went into Doom again xD Really the Doom 64 and mapping for Doom 64 ex that was lots of fun. With Doom 2016 and Brutal Doom 64 releasing it helped push further. I wanted to get more into mapping for Doom since I mapped more for Duke and that made me get real deep back into Doom also. I kind of just move around between Turok, Doom, and Duke. Then I have some occasional games on the side lol.


Yeah you should both finish those maps for Doom 64 ex maybe if you're having trouble finishing/getting motivated.. what about you sending Hell's Keep to abyssal and see if you can build something in it also? That would be awesome. I still have a map I started..that I want to finish also had a neat color going on the sectors.

I want there to be an enemy death that opens a door to the next area, like a mini-boss kind of fight and I don't know how to do it.

And if it's possible, to spawn that enemy you must kill after killing a certain enemy in the first wave of attacks. I'm not sure if this Doom does enemy waves like the new one? It needs to be challenging and not something someone can skip so easily.

I have been playing a lot of MP. The controls are so awkward on PS4 and I put it on Tactical, before. It was had to jump and aim on Default because I have to move my thumb from Right Analog to X while jumping and aiming. This is where it's probably easier on PC with mouse and keyboard, but I don't regret getting it on PS4. I'm still salty about Steam's fuck up on the Dark Souls port and I don't really want to buy anything until Turok 2 is out.

I am getting better and learning that splash damage from rockets is me best friend, seeming I suck at aiming! xD Rocket Launcher seems weak, considering it's a fucking Rocket Launcher! LOL!

Hellshot and Vortex Rifle are good, when my aiming isn't bad. I'm one % away from being at Echelon 5. I still can't use Cacodemon tongue, so I just went back to Baron. I do like to try other demons and weapons because it can get boring using the same thing.

Abyssal yes ppl will always play the original. Actually a lot of people dislike Brutal Doom because so many people like it that it makes the originals fade into the unknown and everyone just pays attention to Brutal Doom. But I like both Original and Brutal. But yes there is different groups of people for Brutal/Original Dooms.

This is very possible I do it in Doomrok in the blue card area. You kill the hell knights which lowers that platform. Then a spectre comes down off the platform once you kill him like 10 enemies spawn. I would have to have a look at it to remember though.

I haven't played Doom 2016 mp in some time now. But I did reach max level I played a hole lot I think its still good I just been playing bd64, mapping, and some other stuff a lot atm. I wish cross platform mp was an option though would be fun.

I didn't play MP a lot, earlier. I was playing shithouse, so I went back to Bloodborne and started a new game on that. I wanted to start a new game, anyway and I couldn't wait.

My connection's been shit, too. I was doing good the other day and it had to cut out for a minute. I got back into that same match again, but lost all my points. Fucking Optus! >:( I did hear on the news that other Internet services here were slow... For a first world country, Australia sure as hell stays well behind the times with shit. -_-

Anyway, creating those enemy waves sounds like it would be tricky. Especially if you want the death of ALL enemies and not just one to trigger a chain of events. I have seen in the game how there are many of those and how weapons also spawn. I've payed more attention to the map design as I've played the levels. I can leave events to later like I would with lighting, but I like to test play as I go.

I'll take a look at Hell's Keep at some point. I'm kind of at that point where I'm wanting to do something on Photoshop, but too lazy to do it. xD It's a bad habit.

Is it "Spawn on dead thing" or whatever the action was called?

Anyway, I'll try it soon. More needs to be added once I start again, but I already had the basic layout for the whole Blue Key sector mapped. The next will be for the Yellow Key and then the Red, which I had in that area with the huge Turok inspired pit. That area will become a teleporter to the Red Key room which will be elsewhere.

Once you scale the pillars, you're not going to want to go back down again, so that's why I changed that idea a bit. The pit will still do damage it you fall, but there will be an escape portal which will land you back before the area. It would be a dick move not to add a way out, when you come so far. xD

It was started because I was making a showcase map how to do somethings on Doom 64 ex. But it quickly took form into a decent map here! Do they maybe plan to do it like they did Wolfenstein NWO and Wolfenstein The Old Blood? Same engine different games ones smaller. Its more like a solo expansion huh. Yeah Winter's Fury is really good that level design is pretty damn good and you can see that in the pics too. Loved this wad I'm going to start sharing more wads here soon. Let me work up a list :)

Sixty Four I watched your stream last night it was awesome dude. You played Doom 2016 mp for about 2 hours xD waws pretty entertaining. I didn't know there was that many players still. Definitely stream more often man.

I just followed you. I don't broadcast on Twitch, but I'll have to figure it out because I don't like uploading to YouTube a lot.

I've been wondering if the latest Doom MP is still active, but I know you have it on Steam whereas I have it on PS4. Last time I checked, a lot of the different match modes were dead or at least when I was on... People only wanted to play Team Death Match. :/ I'm not sure if I got matched with US players because most of them were Aussie like me.

I know it would've been better to get on Steam, but I doubt I'd have the power to run it. It's a pretty massive game.

Anyway, I'll give this a watch when I get time... I have to go to a cousin's wedding reception, later.

Gave the multiplayer a play before and it still seems active. Looking for the Death Match was dead, but the Team Play was active.

I like Soul Harvest, but wasn't much of a fan of Freeze Tag. The ball game one was okay... It was actually quite funny.

I wish people would play more Death Match, and I mean Free For All.

I finally finished after all this time.

It's not all the pictures from today, but some.

I did the Hell Guards boss the other week and that was a good fight. Took a few times before I figured out the pattern. Spider Mastermind wasn't too bad. I also found a Classic Doom area in Argent D'Nur.

Normally, I'd play a game for the first time on easy but I finished this on Hurt Me Plenty Mode. The next time I play this game, hopefully I'll have a new screen because it's hard to see the bottom icons and read some of the lore stuff with a cracked screen.

That reminds me... I still haven't finished Resurrection of Evil on Doom 3. I might have to restart that because I would've lost my place. Not to mention Doom 64 and the map I was doing...

Yes you should keep working on it, I don't mind cramped. Lots of Doom 64 levels are like that it has some tight spots where demons are. Really like the screens man especially the pillar that looks like it chipped down.

The reason I said that is because I sort of get caught on the environment.

I did make a few changes, just now. I need more of a ruin look because this is a twisted realm with long and lost ancient structures. Making the overhanging features with the sky box is a bit tricky.

I can't remember but are there different door sounds in this, like ones for stone doors?

I'm not saying completely disregard design but you know I really like vanilla like maps with just the right amount of extra flavor on them. Anyways, that's just food for thought. Made a map in 1 hour here it is. Almost done :) Its much better when you're not stressing how the architecture will be just build baby build for fun as you go.

Well it is what you see heh Jdoom's doom 2 map in Turok 2 raptor fest and I must say its really good I hardly added any structures at all I liked and you're never alone always attacked its great! Groovy vanilla simple styled map nice! I agree really like the maps that don't need a ton of design to make it 'good'. Even though I make a lot of maps with heavy design I always think gameplay is the most tedious and profitable part at the same time.

Definitely not going to stop making Doom 64 maps its my favorite Doom of all. I feel like playing and working on a Doom 64 map just by mentioning it :D Good luck on your map, remember don't stress so highly in finishing. Always room to start a new one. Yeah limiting to a symbol can be complex actually I like to build free but its no a bad thing to challenge our selves to make something like that. Hope to play soon I'm sure it will be fun its Doom64!

That's one thing I don't like about the new game the new music. Everyone seems to like it, it won an award for best game music of the year there must of not been very many candidates xD I don't think it is Doom and none of it is actually heavy. I only like about two songs (main menu theme) bought the whole album the gameplay makes it seems okay but when you sit back and listen to it imo it is not good and definitely not Doom xD It does go good on Brutal Doom you are right about it looks fun haha.

Wow the level called 'Boneyard' is amazing and I think its the best level in Doom 2016 mp!! That design Alice in Hell psychotic style I love it. Its to bad we have to depend on the server to land on this map :( I played for an hour just to get to this level. I don't think that's good! Anyways this level is awesome its just a small preview of one of the matches I had this weekend so far.

@Sixty Four is the fastest mapper I know that still brings quality maps while working fast. Like I could make an all square map really fast. But I see you have slopes/spikes, 3d platforms, layered details, connectivity, and all this. Great fucking work!

Played with GZDOOM 100% secrets no saves xD

This is a pretty tough level in terms of difficulty and not in a bad sense, it was very strategic. There seems to be a little more enemies than the classic Doom 2 maps but not overkill. Ammo and health is quite scarce and you have to use them smart, and in a strategic way or you could be out by the end (when you will need it most). Causing as many in-fights as possible helps. You have to evade some enemies at first while you explore the exterior for goodies and ammo to prepare you for battle. I think some demons are placed not to waste ammo on right away but to make you move as part of the gameplay here. There's also an interior part of the level which leads to its own exterior parts. Gives a sense of being open but connected, which is a familiar formula. I might say that this level reminded me some of a Doom 64 type of layout with the mazey routes, you can get lost at first with the backtracking before knowing the level. It still gives the classic feel overall keeps you on your toes even though there isn't always an enemy at first. The design and layout of this map was above average and has great structure. I played and died many times, I ended up finding all the secrets. It felt rewarding to win. I would say that this map would be a great map to play in co op Survival also, having more players and spiking the difficulty would probably offer some great gameplay.

To finish the week I wanted to do it with another brand new old map from Kaiser. That's going to be a thing I do now on my yt, small series for different mappers with possible reviews as I've done here and do it between doom, blood, duke, and turok mappers. I wonder who I will do next i'm not even sure yet. That was fun as hell.

I was checking Doom 64 Builder the other night because it's been a long time but I can't seem to load any maps on it... I guess I would have to download it again?

For all I know, my stupid AV probably did something to the files on there... Though it has only been marking a certain T2 Old MP file as harmful, lately. Maybe I need to update the program...

I started a new game on 2016 the other night because of Doom Eternal. I see that Arch-Viles are coming back?

I watched a bit of game play the other week and I like the grappling hook. Some of the kills look hilarious, too. Like bopping a zombie's head into their torso. LOL!

Something like Aubrey Hodges music or mick gordon music lmao choose Aubrey all day. i mean even the old Doom style music. I think mick gordons is so electronic and feels like compensating for somthing

I revived my Doom Builder. I don't know what happened and why it wasn't working... Maybe I moved some files around? I do that when my desktop gets too cluttered.



I like this one. I remember a DJ on a Synthwave show that I listen to, played this once. Not Synthwave but he does like to play some other stuff on this electronic vibe.
