Just finished the campaign for the first time ever. I'm kinda underwhelmed.
The graphics are great, but there are way too many samey corridors. There are reasonably distinctive locations, but they're all tangled up in loads of indistinguishable connective tissue.
The weapons are cool, but combat seemed to mostly amount to shooting something in the head and then proceeding to the next corridor.
To be honest, overall it kinda felt like a poor man's Unreal.

I'd like to know if Linux is still planned for either game, if I may.
Also, add Rage Wars to your Turok 3 question. Actually, just expand it to be about the rest of the series in general.

Found my first feather at the river of souls, but I can't for the life of me remember how I got to the altar at the port to spend it. I just keep running in circles.

I meant that even manually installing is failing, but thanks anyway.
I decided to finally scrap the old version of Wine that comes with Mint, and installed the latest version directly from the developers, and it seems to be working on linux for me now. Gonna go try out the single player proper now and see how it goes.

I can't play, because the VC++ 2015 redistributables are refusing to install properly for me. :/

GOG version just went up, with an even bigger discount for Turok owners than Steam. Go shoot things!

Came across this Duke 3D remix project today: RedukedI'm not really a big fan of Duke 3D's soundtrack, but some of these are pretty cool. I especially like Fat Commander. Gotta love dat funky groove.

I didn't say it was bad, just that it wasn't a big seller. It was a decent arcade shooty-bang. But using Duke like this is like Bret Michaels appearing on the Annoying Orange show. It's just kinda pitiful.

Yes. This is how you make Duke relevant again: shoehorn him into a remaster of someone else's game that nobody played.
In case it wasn't obvious, I'm being reeeally sarcastic right now.

There seem to be some persistent misconceptions about this stuff. You don't need to extract any files, and you don't need dev mode. You just need to specify the full file path:
exportobj models/whatever.bin
By exporting the model to the game's root, all you're doing is saving yourself from having to type the file's path, while also introducing the need for dev mode, because the game doesn't load any unpackaged files without it.
