Weld some metal pipes together.  Etch a paisley pattern into them.  Cap it off with an unobtanium crystal.

Make sure you yell "The universe is mine!" when you're done, or it won't work right.

New version is up with the T2 crossbow and plasma rifle as optional alternatives to the tek bow and pulse rifle, respectively, and initial 2.0 support.

The change notes may look small, but it was a lot of work designing T1-style visual and sound effects for the plasma rifle and its 3 fire modes, and working around engine limitations for the crossbow. Hope y'all enjoy them. :)

Took a few comparison pics.  Looks mostly the same, but a few models seems to have different surface normals (resulting in different shading), and particle rendering seems pretty different (back to normal in the latest update).







I'm gonna have to check and rework so many particle effects for Turok+.  :dizzy:

Edit: just noticed shadows now blend with fog and water properly.  So that's kinda nice.
Edit 2: particle colors are back to normal now.

Still wish we could get ambient occlusion and mip mapping/anisotropic filtering.  Oh well. :/

Here's my setup:

bind mouse_right "call ToggleMode"
bind mouse_misc1 "call QuickKnife" (thumb button)
bind mouse_middle "call QuickGrenade"
bind lshift "call ToggleScope"

Left alt (lalt) is good, too, but I have it bound to a debug function.

VP of 3DR claims the 2001 version of DNF was 90% complete, and gives some details on the game.  They want to release it, but of course they need a license from Gearbox.

I'd love to play it, but I don't want to get my hopes up with all the legal bullshit and bad blood in the way. :/

The alpha 220 and silver eagle strike me as a bit on the nose for the baretta and desert eagle.  If they're intentially supposed to be future models of those guns, then the 220 feels plausible to me, but the silver eagle just kinda looks like a desert eagle to me.

The magnum blade kinda depends on the context.  How serious is the tone of the game?  If it's not very, then being visually imposing might be reason enough for it.  Or is there an in-universe explanation for it?  Like some niche use-case the manufacturer had in mind, or being modded by some meathead who just thought it looked cool?  Or does it serve an actual gameplay purpose, like some kinda gun-fu shenanigans?

The second commando looks a lot better to me.

I appreciate the less bulky profile of the second carbine, to complement the more compact design, but something feels off about it to me.  Maybe it's that the barrel isn't aligned with the ejection port, or that there's no space for the gas system above the barrel.  I like the forward slanted grip in front of the mag well in both versions.
