Turok Dinosaur Hunter / Re: Report Turok 1 bugs

I don't know it this is a bug or not, but has anyone ever been able to pick up a Backpack, even though they already have one?

So far through my game, I've accidentally picked up two when I didn't need them and it was quite wasteful.

Luckily, I've only had one death and that was in level 4. I wasn't going to reload my save (like I did earlier in the game) because I died and lost a shit load of ammo, even though it was from a stupid miscalculated fall. xD

Also, am I the only one occasionally getting Mortal Wounds when using the rifle? I didn't think it works with guns... But, I'm playing Easy.

Its most likely a bug. You only get them by using the knife and the bow's regular arrows. Cant remember if only human enemies drop them also.

Yeah, I know. That's why it was weird to me when I wasn't using the knife or arrows. It's no big deal because I already had the four that I wanted and I knifed them out of the enemies in level 1.

I got a few with the rifle while killing raptors in level 2. You can get Mortal Wounds from the raptors in the old game. You can't get them at all on Hard mode, but I'm not sure if that's changed for this one?

Seriously, the enemies are really harder on this version, even on normal mode they are way more of a challenge than in the original N64. Hard is certainly a challenge but manageable, I managed to finish the game on that difficulty after switching from normal mode on level 3.

But hardcore mode, oh boy, I started a new game on that difficulty and after a few minutes on level 3 I had to switch back to hard mode because I was getting killed left and right. The campaigner soldiers/poachers certainly have taken lessons from the forsaken warriors from Turok 3 because once they decide to start opening fire with their assault rifles they just stay glued firing away like crazy, lowering you health pretty quickly and rarely missing a shot. The already frustrating ancient warriors with blowguns become a real pain. Purlins become a nightmare and raptors always seem to give me a good maul before giving up the ghost. Even those with melee weapons had become a thing and leapers...oh god.

On a small note, I have to say that I love that they improved the shockwave cannon by making the charged shots not only cover a wider range but also becoming stronger. I noticed it on level 7, when I charged it and a alien was carbonized with one shot but regular shots took like three to be carbonized. I am glad they fixed this because originally that was a weapon that I only used on caves or in certain areas of the catacombs against leapers and beetles, now it is more useful and awesome.

I'll have to give that a try to see what that's like. You forgot to mention the Carboniferous Dragonflies. They would be a pain in the arse on Hardcore mode, because they're hard to hit at times. Not to mention the Yellow & Red Robots and the Triceratops Riders.

Those Triceratops on the hardest mode would probably give me as much trouble as the Hell Knights from Doom 3 did, earlier this year when I played it. Like the BFG9000, the Fusion Cannon is the answer for my problems! xD

It gives more of that ambiance of the original version and not quite knowing what's lurking in the fog/shadows ahead.

For sure, specially in the catacombs. It also kinda helped melee enemies have a chance at hitting you, but now that the ai is more aggresive thats probably useless now.

That's a level that definitely looks better without extended draw distance and makes it feel darker. I've noticed that the Grenadiers don't throw grenades over your head, like they use to. xD

Also, am I the only one occasionally getting Mortal Wounds when using the rifle? I didn't think it works with guns... But, I'm playing Easy. I'll play higher difficulty when I start again. I love how there was a Swift and Deadly achievement. I lured four giant cave beetles and swiped them. One better than killing three at once! xP

Level 1 is still a level that I can mostly run around with just a knife in hand. Seeming I'm looking for Mortal Wounds early in the game, it saves me ammo for the levels ahead.

I haven't actually started a proper game yet, but I have played a bit of all the levels (using cheats) to see the improvements. I like how some areas are completely different looking and there's extra things added. It's nice to hear the original music.

Yeah, I'm having issues with the Light Scatter and I had to turn it off. I mentioned it in the bugs thread. It's no big deal, although I'd like to appreciate the light beams through the fog. As much as I love the graphical improvements, I think I still prefer the draw distance turned off and happy there's that option. It gives more of that ambiance of the original version and not quite knowing what's lurking in the fog/shadows ahead.

This beats playing it on the emulator and I was happy to spend a little money on it. The only thing I wish I had seen was the endless bouncing of dead bodies (with Grenades or Alien Weapon) and still hearing them scream. I know that defies logic with a big fat middle finger, but it was funny! xD

When I start a proper play-through, I'll take my time because I like to enjoy it.

My Steam is: Dragon_of_The_Abyss86 but I won't really be on it much.

I just created a Steam account and purchased the game. I gave it a bit of a play and it's looking good.

My only issue so far is that it pixelates when I look at the sun or towards it. I managed to fix it by turning Light Scatter off, but I like the lighting with it on. Is this a small bug or compatibility issue?

Here's my laptop's specs:

Dell XPS 17 (Windows 7)
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-2670QM CPU @ 2.20GHz
Installed Memory (RAM): 8GB (7.90 Usable)
System Type: 64-Bit Operating System

Turok 2 Seeds of Evil / Re: Favorite Weapons Discussion

Everyone likes the plasma rifle because its overpowered lol.

I don't know if I could call it overpowered, sadly  :-\ . Unless someone uses the sniper scope utilization, enemies require more than one hit to kill with it.

Yeah, I have to agree.

It's quite good in sniper mode but on the 64 version (I've only played that), the hit detection is atrocious! Most weapons, but especially that. I'm not sure how it is on PC. It's huge ammo packs are the best because of the full capacity. It's still a cool weapon despite poor hit detection.

I like all the weapons because they make killing enemies an art. Especially the Cerebral Bore.

The Shotgun with Explosive Shells on Raptoids is one of the most satisfying things, when they all go SPLAT! xD Even when you get the Shredder, it's still good to use the basic. Even the Pistol still has a use to me after acquiring the Mag60 upgrade because I only want to spend one bullet on some switches in level 4 and barrels.

The Tek Bow and War Blade are the only upgrades that replaces the use of the original weapons for me.

I think the Razor Wind is cool but it's annoying when it gets stuck. I guess it makes up for how powerful it is...

I'm use to seeing my stuff on the Google search, if I search for myself. Seeing it here just reminded me that I posted the screencap when I was obviously bored, one night. xD

Anyway, it's hard to choose a favourite weapon (as much as I love the Fusion Cannon & Chronoscepter) because they all have their own abilities.

I've always liked the look of the Alien Weapon and how it works. I forgot to post my thoughts on this one.

I just tried again and it worked. I had my post saved on a notepad, so I didn't need to type it out again.

Thanks! :D

If it happens again, I'll come back to this thread, but hopefully I won't need to.

Turok General Discussion / Re: What are your thoughts on the Villians?

The Campaigner: The diabolical evil laughing cyborg villain who has an amplifying weapon (obviously for the Chronoscepter) pointed towards the sky like a true evil mastermind! xD Reading the story about him gives me more of an idea of who he was and what he wanted.

Thunder: Because he's The Campaigner's pet Tyrannosaurus Rex with a Stegosaurus tail, eye lasers and dragon's breath.

The Longhunter: It's interesting to know why he's aligned with The Campaigner. Obviously, The Campaigner could give him what he wanted in exchange. You'd wonder if The Campaigner was using him like the Primagen did with the Purr-Linn, by plotting to end them once their service was no longer useful. Then, Longhunter may have already been apart of Campaigner's army. To me, Longhunter seems more like a hired hand.

The Primagen: His story is also one of the most interesting. I remember reading that his ship entering some netherscape and created The Lost Land, right?

Oblivion: Until I played T3, I wasn't aware that all those evil voices were just his. I always thought it was random Flesh Eaters talking. I was a little disappointed at the boss battle, but he was still an interesting character. I liked the mystery that surrounded him and his ilk in SoE.

These are pretty much some of the only ones I know so far. I haven't played the other games. I'd like to play Evolution.
