I entered the giveaway in the hopes of getting in on the multiplayer and beta testing though I'm not sure how it works.  Do you 'pull the name out of a hat' once the timer runs out?  I've never heard of that site before. :)

Also, just curious, how popular is the multiplayer turning out to be?  Do you guys think it has staying power?

Hi Old One Eye, Old Dead Gazerbeam here. That eye problem you have is going to make playing Multi-Player tough. There are some skins that you can equip so that you are almost completely hidden. The skin blends in to certain maps and you can't see the attacker at all. If that doesn't change soon T2 Multi-Player will lose a lot of people. The only saving grace is that the player name is hardcoded in above the head in large enuff letters that you know someone is there. That's my biggest "gripe" about MP currently.

It also needs other fixins too I'm afraid. So right out of the box I'm sure a lot of people will pass on multiplayer. But there is a few die hard players from the old PC version of the game that will play this for years to come I'm sure. It's very Quake II type gameplay. It is my opinion that the base code for this game was written by Carmack and licensed to whoever, the same way Valve bought a license from him and created Half-life. Seems like my note is pertaining to history waxing/waning nostalgically about the days before the Supers died.  :P

Based upon that observation, I think it has staying power. Once someone puts together a dedicated server mod. I think that's why it's not on GoG yet. Right now you need Steam to 'authenticate' the server, but all the server commands (from Quake series) are in the console. There will be a server setup mod or support or something soon.

let's kick some 12 year old arse!  gg - Gazer

Right on n1ce screenies Duke, the bottom one is an example of how well the player skins blend in with the background. And the father apart you get, the worse it gets.

Hey I found 2 Turok comic books today, lol - I'll find the right thread and post after I read 'em.

Just as this match finished, I got four kills with the Nuke! xD This was actually a good few matches because my ping stayed consistent (even if still a bit higher) and I didn't have really any delay from gunshots. When I did try multiplayer earlier, my ping was bad but then I decided to finish off the rest of the Lair of The Blind Ones. My ping was much better after that...

I try joining some matches, but then I get some build mismatch notice.

As for the Tek Bow sniper glitch with standard arrows, I still get it upon loading game. I read the "What's New" and I just had an update. It's still a minor issue.

@ Gazer:  I (don't! :P) see what you mean regarding the invisible player skins.  That does seem like a bit of a game killer.  I mean what happens if everyone on a map chose to go invisible... That could be pretty boring!

Still, aside from that major oversight it looks pretty fun overall.  Here's hoping they fix the skins thing once they've got more stable and usable net code in place.

As for your thoughts on the relationship to Quake, I think you're probably right.  For me, that's a good thing.  Quake is a fantastic series and deserves more praise in the mainstream than it gets.

Half-Life isn't the be-all, end-all of the FPS legacy.  There.  I said it.  Feeling better now... :P

Anyway, back on topic.  How's the second patch doing?  Has anyone spent much time with it yet?  I'm really curious to see how it's all going for the GOG update.

So, I tried that fix, Gazer.

I had to because I was lagging out big time, before. I have 7 CPU's in the Set Affinity and disabled from 3-7. I was unsure to disable those extra ones I have, but the game still worked.

I wonder if they'll change the hand sprites for when you play as another character? I played Flesh Eater and Adon, but I still like the Fireborn.
