I find it interesting about how you guys think that the engine affects gameplay. It's all the same thing, an API to run code with. It can feel the same, true to the original. Hehe Turok is on Kaiser's engine. The Kex engine the goal was to make it run nearly identical to Turok as close as possible to the originals. The Kex engine started with Doom 64 Ex. https://doom64ex.wordpress.com/ But notice how ceiling sliding wasn't working at first in Turok remaster and an update put it in. Its because its not simply a port with mods. These things had to be remade to match. Not noticing the difference is probably a compliment to the dev. However its not mentioned very much, the history of Turok Ex that is. The difference would be that the game could be fully moddable. This is from that Doom 64 ex page it say's this in the FAQ: What is Kex Engine? Kex is the codename for the engine that’s being used by Doom 64 EX. I know your heart is in the right place, and I see what you are saying but in my experience it doesn't work. A friend of mine was making a Perfect Dark remake using the Unreal Engine, I tired the demo and the gameplay didn't feel "right". That being said, I actually liked some of the 64's MP maps, those should be an addition to the T2 Remaster. I also agree with vis about the LAN, seeing as I play T2 MP with friends over LAN all the time.
But onto what I would really like to see: The game running on a new engine, being actually remade rather than just a bunch of mods added to the game, which I could have done myself. Seriously, T2 is 18 years old, we ought to get something remotely new. That being said, the gameplay should still be the same. The AI could also be improved, though it was great, it was made to work on systems such as the N64 (Which had something like a 94 MHz CPU!) Many other things have already been said, such as MP Gore, more characters, SP guns and beta guns, etc. I would also love a reorchestrated soundtrack and stage editor. A first person body would also be nice, players could also have dynamic footplanting and other fancy procedural things. To please the people who will be playing daily/hourly for years to come lets hope it goes that way. 3. MP for all! What that means? Gog and steam versions must have MP crossplay, or player base will be half less, very bad thing then, there! Game must work on large number of operative sistems, look, we all have old pc or lap where is windows xp, so no excuse to not add ability to us to use it! Keep LAN mode to, becouse will not force us, to be online, all time to be able to play MP, with family or friends! Net code in T2 MP is specific, so people can play it easy with high ping, range 150-250, comparated to modern games, with modern way of calculation, so please to do copy/paste of that. A lot of us use wifi net and it doing very well for playing or hosting MP in Turok 2. Ty 2. This is more important, then i wrote up! How? We get MP crossplay, LAN, game is avaible on win xp - win 10 and maybe some other os, like OSX (maybe linux to?), have exelent net code, old1 net code or simular to that, then what would be problem?! Problem would be, most of people would be bored of 2 things: playing same map's for many years and second: not existing way to deal with trashtalkers and cheaters! So, please, give us: new map's and kicker by democraty voting, so we can protect self of any bad person! Now, level editor not have vital purpose, if there is no easy way to share map's. Steam workshop is joke! We need this: map will be downloaded try joining process, automatic, on server where is hosted new map; or this: keep level editor for self or give it to circle of talented people, (moding community?) which will result with standardisation of new maps, becouse map packs will be distributed directly from you, game devoleprs, try game updates, on normal way! : ) 1. What would be more important then this all writed in 3th abd 2th place, a?! Well, if you are true fan of MP, in Turok 2 Seeds of Evil game, then you must know why you like to play it!!!! I play it cos unique gameplay mehanic, good combo of visual and sound atmosphere and strong bond with singleplayer story! There is no other MP where i can get same! Each jump, each frag, each sound of efect, like palsma shot, all is so damn gooooood! Each fight feels adrenaline rewording! Many interestign bugs to, that can be used for creative gameplay! So, dear devolepers i strongly suggest: Keep game mehanic min 90 % like it is! You will not make us, who playing it for years, very sad, then! if you, devolepers find one excuse for not doing it, in new engine limitations, which can't copy all mehanic, then we can understand, normal, but if you say we not have enaf people ressurs and time, then i would said: what did stoped you to make big beta test of MP where you could use, us, people who played for many years, with great love, who know most of MP world there, what we like or not, who left to play, even all was against us, to help you, devoleprs, in making it near same, like is now!? Simple. I will not forgive. So all in short: keep most of same, fix critical/major bugs like some invisible walls, which preventing us to use more of places, add dedicated server suport, so we who like to host with diff setings can use it. List of major bugs is to long to write it here, so ideal would be that we give info, to you, during fixing process, in beta MP testing. 0. In ideal world, we would have ideal game, so here my wish list that presents it: add all weapons from singleplayer, then beta/weapons from n64 console ver of game, make all configurble try server/host setings, add many new characters, all from rage wars! Add new game mods, like it is in n64 console version, of T2 MP, monkey tag and chicken tag from rage wars and make it free game (joke) Ok, you should put 1 year promo price, so we poor people, can get basic game and you get funds try incrased number of people who can bay it, cos one rich guy can give 30 bucks, ok, but 3 poor guy, like i'm, from Serbia, we can give 3 x 10, so on end you get same, but more peopel gets game ![]() |
