I'm hoping he ends up putting it out on Bandcamp. To be honest, I wish more people would do that rather than bloody DRM-tastic iTunes and unnecessarily region locked online Amazon!
EDIT: I just mailed Darren to ask him if he'd consider Bandcamp. Nothing ventured, nothing gained. :)

"...This is from my private collection. Some of this may have seen the light of day, but never the whole CD. Written in 1997, this CD was recorded in the studio in my house when I was living in Austin, TX. It is laid out in the form of a "Concept Album", which I really enjoy (XTC's "Skylarking" and the first Enigma albums were my favorites at the time). This is a CD version of the game music, using the original equipment that I had back in '97."
That's a quote from Darren's Facebook page. You can rip the music if you like (as many already have) but this is the original compositions in their original state as envisaged by the musician before it was crushed to fit on a game cartridge. I don't think $9 for someones original vision of their music is too much to ask.
Just a bit of advice from an old fart: Try to be a little more positive about things. As Turok fans we're in a good place right now. Let's keep it that way. :)

I will also tell him about bandcamp you know Aubrey Hodges uses Bandcamp also. Darren Mitchell and Aubrey Hodges are the BEST point blank period xD
Aubrey Hodges Bandcamp: (Doom and Quake osts!) https://aubreyhodges.bandcamp.com/
Aubrey Hodges is also working on a Doom 64 extended version! He say's he is going to need therapy afterwards xD (Its coming soon)
-
I've bought all the Doom and Quake stuff that Aubrey's put up on Bandcamp and I can't wait for the anniversary Doom 64 album. His PSX Doom special was pretty damn cool. :)
Also, yeah, if Darren puts out more stuff (and it ends up somewhere that I can buy it!) then I'll be all over that!
-
So, anyway, I heard back from Darren Mitchell and he said that he's going to look into getting his music up on Bandcamp. Here's hoping! *Crosses fingers...*
I wonder, would anyone who's bought his stuff mind putting a wee snippet up on Youtube or something? I'm desperate to hear something! :)

I found myself listening to it on repeat those freaking jungle sounds man make me love it and the jungle sounds really remind me of that beta music we once heard! I have a feeling he could have the beta music somewhere...Who knows.
Yeah guys enough already with the other stuff xD Let's just hope he releases more I really would like Rage Wars N64 private OST! Would be dream come true.
Edit: Good job One Eye you helped in convincing him to do it!!

Chirac, one side of your mouth says "I big fan", the otherside says "I deserve this for free, because I bought the n64 version and/or PC"... Your somehow twisting ROM logic, into some scenario where you should get to steal someones work without paying, and not feel bad about it, but entitled to do it. If the guy who composed all of this is selling "THIS" at this point, he could probably use a few bucks. Why shouldnt he get compensated?
Do you realize how long it takes to compose a song? Give it personality of its own, with zero visuals? Do you know that recording a perfect take is a nightmare? $8 is a freakin meal at an fast food joint. Help your body and this talented musicians wallet!
What a Dick thing to say...

Its to help the creator earn some money.
Exactly. Ripping from the game is really a violation of my copyright. And the version that is in the game is not exactly what I am releasing....

Darren, thank you so much for your work.
I got two questions for you.
Were you involved in any way in the development of Turok 3 and Evolution?
Those voices you hear in the main theme for Rage Wars, WHAT DO THEY MEAN???

We will listen to Darren's wishes about sharing these. So please nobody share or post these if you want to listen just go to his Bandcamp (https://darrenmitchell.bandcamp.com/album/turok-the-dinosaur-hunter) It is a great site it gives you a bunch of file formats and allows you to really hear the music(even before buying). So just drop by there if you need to hear. I bought on amazon and on bandcamp because bandcamp has more stuff and is much better. Doesn't bother me I would buy again anyone need it? bandcamp allows us to buy for friends PM me.
Thanks for sharing that on band camp. I really hope you will release more Turok goodies soon really exciting to me will buy all for more than the price lol.
That is not about kissing up it is about respect sir. The music is perfect for Turok and if you take the music out of these games and give it something else I don't know if it would of had the same effect imho.
I would like to know how deep did you get into this Darren? Because I was once a musician and I know you really have to be inside the idea to make this kind of quality match. Did you read the comics and view the game when you made these. I may just email you so we can set up a better focus here.

Awesome and Turok 3 soundtrack is under rated it is really good. I thin in he made that too. South Park sounds also??

Apologies Darren. I just wanted to hear a small sample a la Amazon. It was never my intent or hope to listen to or rip the whole thing from Youtube. Being a recording musician myself I totally understand your point. I was just excited. :)
Anyway, thanks so much for putting your music up on Bandcamp. I've bought it and am off to listen to it right now.
-
What kind of music do you make, Old One Eye? :D I'd love to hear it

Mostly different styles of metal, rock and punk. I do enjoy playing a bit of funk and crossover stuff too.
If I can find any (not embarrassing!) links I might put something up. :)
Anyway, I've only managed to listen to the first couple of tunes of the soundtrack and I'm really enjoying it so far. It's interesting hearing it in such high fidelity and with all the extra instrumentation.
My partner's back for a couple of days (she's working away from home just now) so I may not get a chance to listen to it properly for a while but I can't wait to find time and stick it on with a pair of headphones. 8)
I AM TUROK, mofo's!
-
Thanks for sharing this soundtrack Darren really hope to see more can't wait will be checking in :)
-
Holy crap, Darren Mitchell posted in this thread...
We love what you did for Turok. I still to this day have your percussion playing in my head at odd times.
Thank You Darren!

Was actually on my way to post this, when I saw DM posted...

Sorry if this was already covered...

That's an interesting read. It's always cool to hear about hardware limitations and how they affect the creative process.
Also, for those interested, Darren has just released his South Park OST too. :)
