Turok General Discussion / Turok Spirit
« on: February 27, 2022, 06:22:35 PM »

I am happy to announce that a new section of the Turok Sanctum website is online. Introducing Turok Spirit!
I want people to think of this as a lore expansion alongside the Acclaim games. I was mostly inspired by the Warhammer 40k wiki and the SCP wiki when making this. However, it has it's own twists: it has solid character and item statistics to gauge everything, and that can go alongside the stories within. With the increased functionality Wordpress has over Wikia, I like this choice and I am eager to add more to it as time goes on. Please add and message me if you have ideas, suggestions, or articles you want to add to it yourself, DoomMarine23 made that Ruby Beetle article a while ago and was overjoyed to see what he came up with.
Special Thank You to Sixty Four for setting up this space. :)

Turok Dinosaur Hunter Modding/Mapping / HD Ammo Pickup Textures
« on: January 16, 2022, 04:42:21 PM »
Turok Sanctum Download Page:

An HD ammo texture mod that I've made to closely match the original textures. It all started a month or so ago after finding the HD version of the pistol/assault rifle ammo box I created 3 years ago that I thought had been lost forever. One thing led to another and edited every single ammo pickup (except the energy and fusion ammo since those borrow a metal reflection texture that is used on surfaces other than the ammo). The .kpf file has a few bonus and joke textures that are unused.

Is compatible with most mods, even other texture packs.

Turok General Discussion / What qualities make a good Turok?

In your own words, describe what makes someone a good Turok (in general, I know there have been exceptions to others)?

Anything Else / A Message Of Hope
« on: March 28, 2020, 09:47:45 PM »
Greetings  :feather:

I know that we are all in trying times recently, and the walls of the world seem to all want to be collapsing on us.

I just want to say; do not despair. Many times we forget to count our blessings as we struggle to keep ourselves intact physically and emotionally. Many people actually fail and just break and that's it, it's over for them. But I say again, do NOT despair, there is always hope.

Most of you have played video games over and over again, you think the overall message is invalid in real life? Wrong, the values you learn in these stories is something you are meant to emulate in the real world. In desperate times people will often show their true colors, because it will be very difficult to stay good and honorable, even impossible and nonsensical to do so, because when people's loved ones or themselves are at stake, they will do anything to protect them.

The answer to uncertainty and panic is to be prepared, think about things you can do to make your life a little bit easier and secure. You are responsible for you and your loved ones well being.

We don't know when the current crisis will end, we definitely cannot risk acting like it's going to end soon, because the consequences of us being wrong are too great. Be vigilant till the very end, but don't despair because, hell, we got this!

Thanks for listening.

Turok Dinosaur Hunter Modding/Mapping / Sprite and Model Test Map
« on: March 19, 2020, 08:22:16 PM »

This is a modder's resource I made in an hour last night.

I basically made this map in order to make it easier to make sprites and stuff like that. The fog has been colored pink and extended to the point where you cannot see it anymore. The area is basically a large box of grass meshes, all one would have to do would be to add another .kpf to their mods folder replacing "tex0988_00.png" to a solid color image, making sprite sheets 10x easier.

Special thanks to Raffine for inspiring me to do this.

Some useful commands:

"g_drawweapon 0" to hide weapons being held
"hidedrawfx" to hide particles effects, including anything fired from weapons

Turok 2 Seeds of Evil Modding/Mapping / Harbor 5 - Remastered
« on: February 22, 2020, 06:27:21 PM »

Old Turok 2 Multiplayer’s popular Harbor 5 map has returned to the remaster! I have set weapons, teleporters, and spawns to be in the same locations as the original would have had. Have fun!

Big round of applause to Doommarine23! He helped investigate old mp’s version of the map to make all the above mentioned placements more accurate!

If you've been surfing around Youtube recently, you might have noticed that the ToS is changing on December 10th of this year, and that COPPA is taking effect January 1st of next year. I was VERY hesitant to make this thread, as I would love to think nothing will happen to Turok videos (or any type of video) on Youtube would be in jeopardy. But, obviously this is the case, and while absolutely no Turok videos could be affected next year, we have NO idea what really is going to happen over time. So, I would like to bring attention to this issue.

There are 2 main changes that are floating in the air.

One is that Youtube will be able to take down any channel it wants to. There has been alot of bad information going around about this, mostly stemming from Youtube's claims that it will only take down "features with low usage".

This is false. If you read the actual ToS, it says the following:

As you may see, the "Service" pertains to the whole platform collectively meaning ALL of Youtube. It does not matter what Youtube intends to do with this *right now*, from here on out, it is open season on every channel as far as the ToS is concerned.

The other issue is COPPA, which some people think it affects videos that are directed towards kids. This is also false.

The law is so vague that video games such as Call of Duty, Doom, and Turok can easily fall under COPPA simply because kids might play them! And while this is a U.S. law, Youtube being based in the U.S. would have to remove videos uploaded from other countries that are not COPPA compliant.

Again, I'm not trying to raise alarm saying all (or any) of the Turok videos are going to be wiped out. What I am saying, though, is now is the time to start archiving and preserving them, because we do not know what is going to happen to Youtube when all these changes start rolling through.

Thank you for taking the time to listen to my rant. Hopefully if you're a video creator that has Turok videos on youtube that you have a backup of them on your computer.

Turok 2 Seeds of Evil Modding/Mapping / Twong's Spire MP Map
« on: October 15, 2019, 07:48:29 PM »
Converted the first area of Hive of the Mantids to recreate Twong's Spire, which is an arena map in the PC version of Old T2 MP.

Major thanks to Vis and Jag for helping test and giving tips on what to do as far as spawn and item placement.

Thanks also to BP for bug and gameplay testing.

So I'm sitting minding my own business today when my good friend "poof spell" messages me that he's been able to access files on his switch recently! Moreover, he was going to see if he could put in mods on his Switch version of Turok! You cannot believe the excitement I had, so I walked him through it and gave him mods to try out. Here's the results:

Our first success! We were able to get the Hi-Rez Water mod to work!

We tried to get Turok+ running, but he only got a black screen after the loading splash, and he was not able to get a keyboard working to get into console, unfortunately.

But, we managed to get Openworld working:

Except it didn't really work, and instead did something VERY bizarre.

Poof and I have our own theories on what happened here, but we're not 100% sure lol.

This does not mean that custom maps/campaigns are impossible, we used Jay Doom's vanilla Demon Village, which worked out just fine!

Thanks for reading and leave your thoughts below :)

Special Thanks to Poof Spell, while not a Turok modder, has become the first known player to mod Turok on the Switch. Thanks for helping us out pal!

If you want to be able to mod the switch yourself, well, I don't really know how to do that exactly. You will need an unlockable 1st gen switch with firmware that hasn't been updated, you will also have to follow a guide such as this:
